To cut a long story short my team has improved month by month, training session by session.

I’m a firm believer that the only way to be better at something is to train at all the small elements of it to improve your overall ability and understanding.

With some teams never training and smashing highly trained teams on game day I just wandered what all your thoughts were.

Train or not to train.

Maybe a poll at the top would be a good idea.

I think "luck" is a very big factor in a game of paintball.
It only takes being the team facing into the sun, having 1 bad call, or one hopper dying to decide a game.

But to the original question.. to train, definately. The only way to improve your skills is to play.

Perhaps the teams that are not training yet winning on game day have a better skill level than the teams that are training.

What i mean by this is.... if you have two fiant punto's both identical in a race they would finish at the same time. Now spend £2000 on one, and all of a sudden it will whip the others butt. However if the tunes car now goes up against a standard porshe who wins??

The porshe ofcourse. Some players are just naturally more aggressive/better players than others. However when you are playing against similar skilled/experianced teams by training you increase your chances of winning dramatically. In extermely dramatic cases, spend enough money on the punto (or train as hard as the best) and it could beat any super cars in its path;)

in conclusion

To train

All I can say is that when we (ECI) started training properly from 2007, within a year we were placing in the top 4 of the Milleniums and we won Campaige and also being the only Team (and knocking them out)to beat Dynasty in Belguim!!!!

Don't train - eat pies - drink beer - play paintball.

...or...

Train hard - eat fruit - drink water - play paintball properly.

There's your choice (I do the first one by the way)!

I love training i prefer it more than events and i prefer drilling over scrimming because i can feel myself getting better everytime i train and i believe if you want to be a good paintballer you must train

IMO there's no point in being in a team if you don't train.

By that i mean, if you don't mind about results then there's no need to train, but if you don't care about results then it's surely a cheaper and more cost effective day's play to do a walkon as opposed to an event.

Personally i'm with Judgey on this one, i love training :) Drilling and drilling properly is the way to get better :)

Way I see it is that drills are there to improve and maintain your personal level. If you want to do well, there's no point in playing games as a team without training, but neither is there any point in training without playing games as a team.
