OK Robbo - I get this; no serious contenders other than Joy due to lack of experience in bashing heads with the Yanks.

That said, how about another question? If someone came to you and said "Robbo, go and create me a team of the finest, baddest talent in UK ball to take on the Yanks", which names would you be writing on your list?

I know we have had the discussions before regarding what makes a great player and the qualities required to gel these diverse talents into a competitive team but right now who are those rare beacons of talent? :)

Hmmm, I was waiting for something like this post to come up, cheers Mark!
It kinda puts me in an awkward place but for the sake of answering your post, I will put aside previous events.

The backbone of the team would have to be some of Nexus because I know these guys and have worked with them and they are playing as high as they are able in the Millennium, and so Dunny, Leigh and Tommy would be in straight away.
Ledz, Jack Wood, Nicky T and Mark Toye were the same backbone in Nexus at the beginning.

I would then do exactly what I did before, I'd go looking round the country for young blood and train them up.
That way, I ain't gotta bother with de-training their faults.

As for their identity?
No frikkin idea till I got out there ...... but 'there' is a place I would never go again because of a few thieving slags but that's another story just waiting to be told ....

I hope this answers your question :)

Mmmmmm...... now there seem to be many other questions forming in my head :) but for now I will go with this one. For me, the greatest game I ever witnessed Nexus play was at Crystal Palace in the Semi's; I think against Russian Legion (could have been Dynasty - forgive me I'm old!). Game two having lost the first one of three, I think Tommy pulled a great run through and mowed down 3 RL players winning the game. How do you spot that 'second sight' that great players have when you look at grass roots 'young blood' talent?

That was against the Russian Legion in the second semi final game at Crystal palace.
Yeah, we did OK in that first year.
Anyways, it usually takes 30 seconds of watching a player for me to know if he can make it, they have a certain style about them and Tommy certainly had that style, as did Bowen, but Bo fell at the final fence of development.
So I wasn't always right.
