OK, if there was such a thing as a paintball equivalent to the Ryder cup, who would make the European squad? I am not talking players of yesteryear but of players who are currently at the top of their game - lets go with 7 players in the squad - I wonder if any Brits make the squad............

joy division..only chance of taking the yanks out :p
I was just about to edit my post to say "I bet everyone goes for Joy" but didn't on the basis that there must be other players out there who would be snapped up by Joy if available. Europe's best can not all reside in one team surely.........

The entire Joy team because if you go and choose a bunch of what people think are Europe's best that might or might not include Brit players, they won't play as a team and therefore have zero chance of beating the Yanks.

The only chance we have of taking the Yanks on with the conditions you have placed upon selection is by picking all of Joy ... mind you, they would probably fill most of the team anyways if we just selected the best players.

And that's because these are the only guys who have consistently gone against the Yanks over the past few years (and beaten them) and therefore are the only players in Europe who can be relatively assessed ..all others are merely conjecture.

If they played consistently in the US against the Yanks then maybes they'd get one in there but all the time our leagues are locked and Nexus are unable to play in the US and hone their player base, they are gonna be big fish in a medium sized pond and therefore no relative assessments can be effected.

And as such you have to go with the Joy guys who have been there, done it, won it and have proved themselves many times before on the US circuit against the best of them.

Mind you, if we now factor in the Russian Legion players as mentioned above, then no, they wouldn't even get one player in; well they would if Brandon Short took Brit nationality but as far as I know, he's still a Yank.
Tommy Pemberton would probably stand the best chance of getting in but he's going up against players who have in the past few years, had a lot more experience Stateside than he, and so he's got a difficult task in getting his name in there.
We can of course default to a misplaced national pride or BS to thrust names in there but I'm afraid it's all meaningless; performances against the best are what counts and the only criterion for assessment.

I'm afraid if you try to select the best of anything, then you are honour-bound to look at what they do against the best and as such, only the Russian Legion and Joy Division have done this of late.
The best players in Europe would necessarily come from those two rosters.

what about JB who plays for xsv
Ju Ju, as far as I know, wasn't able to command a consistent place in the first team but things may have changed of late.
He is most certainly one of the UK's finest players on his day, and I'd even go as far to say, that when he plays well (which he can) he would be one of Europe's top players but consistency was what Ju had to work on as he knows.
I spoke to Rich Telford several times re Ju about this and Rich may well have addressed that problem with Ju in training and so's he may well be right up there.

And now it looks as though XSV are gonna be playing in this new 7 man league and not going up against NXL teams which is a shame for obvious reasons but I suppose expected when you look at the somewhat restrictive moves recently made by the PSP.
