Hey all, weird one really. what should i do? have bought a used bottle born mid 2004,Fin 2019, the first test i believe should have been mid 2009.The last owner had it tested mid 2008???!! with a sticker on it stating so, and need for retest mid 2011!! (only 3 years!).
So should i ignor this and have it tested 2009 to get it back on track, or consider it tested until 2011??
Your thoughts please: Woody.

Timing depends on the bottle type. I would let the time expire and test then. If you have doubts as it is second hand then an earlier test gives peace of mind.

There are types that are initially on a 3 year cycle but some then later become a 5 year cycle.

If you have a 5 year cycle then (legally) it does not matter whether you test in 2009 & 2014 or 2011 & 2016 as that is two tests and it expires in 2019. If you have doubts as it is second hand then an earlier test gives peace of mind.

If it does have a 3 year cycle then 2011, 2014, 2017 means 3 tests.

Thanks for replies, it's one of these=FIVE YEARS FOR FULL-FIBRE WRAPPED BOTTLES - EN12245 and Pi certified. tested by CTS,Cylinder Testing & Sales (uk.) ltd. Just don't understand why it got tested in 2008 and not 2009!!and yet they've only given it 3 years until next test, not 5?!! I have no doubts as to it current integrity,so not worried.
Woody.

Now having thought some more on this, i think i'll stay with the current test and retest in 2011 and 2016.

Woody.

what bottle is it, as in who manufactured it?

*edit*- if i remember correctly fibre wrap cylinders are subject to a 3year hydro cycle if used under water, 5 years when used on the surface.

but i'd still recomend you give who ever tested it a call and get the low down, HPA is not somthing to triffle with

the sticker should say who tested it, could double check with them
Spot on, this is the only answer.
Ask them why they only gave the bottle a three year certificate, when a bottle of a similar type with that born date, would normally have had a five year certificate.
You can obviously test a bottle any time you wish within it's fifteen year life, but to use it must conform to the test periods defined by the relative authourities.

PS. Let them know you're using it for paintball.
