£700 for all your kit?

That is a reasonably good budget.

You could probably go new for Goggles (try some, I like Grillz).

As for the rest, you will save so much money by buying second hand, you could probably play every weekend for a month at least.

£400 for a marker really puts you in high end marker territory and you could have what you like.

Top choices from me would be:

SL74
Ego8
Ego7
DM7

In that order. I have it on good advice, that the DM8 is a step too far and has maybe gone a little backwards.

You may notice that they are mainly Eclipse EGO's.
They are my choice, but I have good reasons for that.
I have used most markers and could have had any marker I wanted, due to the way I acquired them over the years (LEGAL!).

I loved the DM markers and still do, which is why they would be my second choice of manufacturer.

To me EGO's have offered style, performance, ease of use, ease of maintenance and excellent (read as almost infallible) reliability and Eclipse in my opinion, has the best customer service in the business as a manufacturer as well as a retailer.

I hold DYE and Eclipse at the same level as companies go, but my loyalty is with Eclipse.

I am not sponsored by either company (nor any at the moment!).

With that budget, try a load of markers and ask people what they are like to tech, how easy are they to get spares for, how easy is it to contact the company who would repair them if you cant.

The last thing you want, is when your marker goes down and you cant get parts for ages or it HAS to be sent away, regardless of if you feel you could do it yourself.

People will say, that the EGO is a band wagon. Well, maybe it is, but for good reason, they work and on the odd occasion that it may not, you can get it fixed locally or at Planet in no time at all.

As for AIR. All the markers you would want, run on air. CO2 is nasty, dirty stuff.

no his budget isnt £700
he said he has been looking at a mini package for £300
which includes what he say:
mini clothes air tank hopper
but then he goes on to say
he wants to get just the marker for £400
so his markler budget is £400
and this thread is about markers
so why are you talking about goggles
when hes asking about markers atm
?????

In what I have heard/seen you can actually do with an older marker which will effectively still stand up too newer models.

Ego5's and 06's are old although you can still see people on sites and tournaments using them they are excellent markers. Same with DM and PM markers you can go back a couple of years and again get an immense and fantastic marker for a cut of the price of newer markers with the added cut of price of secondhand :), really tho only differences between the old markers from around 2005,06 and ones out today are uptodate milling, lighter weight and some small mechanical or operational features. Not as important.

Most markers can also be easily updated with new boards and parts from manufacturers and aftermarket sites. Guns such as the egos can also be easily upgraded, and 05/06 ego with ti rammer, cure 2 bolt and for example an 08 tadao board or a flashed ego board will work just as effective than an 07 08 ego. Really that is my opinion on this as I use to own an 06 ego with all those bits and it was a great and fantastic marker, not much different in performance etc than newer guns, such as the PM8 I use to own, or the fully uppd etek2 I have now. (Effectively an ego with the planet upgrades u can get starframe, bolt etc). I still believe that the ego 06 I had was a fantastic marker for its age as I've shown compared to newer markers.

You can see some 05 06 egos with ups like star frames new bolts etc for around the 200 to 300 pounds mark, same with older PM's. and DM's

You know that is the most informative post I have seen from you.
Wish you would show this side of your personality more, instead of some of those witless 1/2 liners you have come out with recently ;);)
