He's a legend, and I can see most of the old Ironmen roster around, but never Marty.

Do any old schoolers know what happened to him?

I know what happened to him but I'm interested to know why you would be interested because he is most definitely old school and one of the great characters of our sport.
He had an ego the size of an asteroid, but that self belief was borne out of what the man could actually do instead of what he thought he could do.

I played against him many times and can testify to the man's genius both on and off the field.
What a lot of people don't know about Marty was that he was once rated in the US top ten chess players at one time and so the guy was pretty damn smart.
Marty was famous for two things, one of which may seem a little inappropriate but ....well, he was famous for being a great player and the other was for being hung like a donkey., a well endowed donkey I may add.

He never really liked the new era of electronic markers because he felt it detracted from the skill-set of players.
He was right, anybody can be accurate at 15 balls a second and this is probably why Marty made a point and played many times with his Budd Orr pump in semi tourneys for the Ironmen., and still managed to shoot out shed loads of players.

I liked Marty because he was able to balance the sometimes tricky combination of arrogance and genius and he did it well because most people in that position are disliked, he wasn't ..he was a cool guy and had everybody's respect.
