This might sound a stupid title but the thread about domination got me thinking.

Badger was right to say that me and the gen like a certain style of play and a certain type of thing (woods ball esque scenario stuff) but due to family and work commitments just cant devote the time to joining a team and touring the big games/scenarios every month

thus we 'see' walkons and domination through these eyes

chris said that he breaks even with domination and as a businessman it should make no sence running it. but as there are few opportunities own gunners can turn up and play with their own kit ... and loads of players have helped him over the last 3 years .... he will always have domination as a monthly thank you

and thats why i got thinking.

what do you think a walk on is and what do you expect/like to see when you turn up on the day

I'm actually in a similar position. Love to play the game as much as I can but not enough to religiously go on mad weekend tours. So Walkons seem like the best option... but they are so few and far between?

have to disagree here - now although he might not make a profit on the day, i for one have sent several groups of punters along.

People know i play paintball a lot, so ask me to recommend a site - unreal it is :)

so if only a few of the walk-on players does this - it helps generate lot of money for the site.

exactly...a good walk-on is very good advertisement for the site and it's business. we all love the 'sport' and we should always try to encourage others to join us.

so you guys see a 'walkon' as means to a fun day but also fair to everyone...

Walkons should cater for experienced own gunners and rentals without the 'serioussness of a competition'. or for that matter the other extreme 'punter hunting'

naming no names of sites but the first ever day i went paintballing i was a rental and there was a group of 5 own gunners taking undue pleasure in 'hunting' us punters and bragging about it back in the safe zone - it made a few in our group pretty misserable but they didnt like it when we ambused their asses on the last game and got there own back ;)

i think walkons should be fair, hard and fun and anyone who throws their toys out of the pram or moaning to the site owner (again naming no names frank :p;):D:D) dont seem to have grasped the concept and thats why I wondered what YOUR view of a 'Walkon' is?

p.s frank is a fantastic bloke (for anyone not having the pleasure to meet him) and 99% of the times he is unhappy is due to genuine reasons (shot when dead, shot in the head with a string of paint, shot up thye ass with many many rounds or bunkered... and shot several times) but he does get vocal :D and i love you to bits frank :D

well i try to bring at least 2 rentals down with me when i attend unreal. They have all come with more rentals so i feel that i might have helped bring some trade into chris. Well i have played rec ball for 12 years and never done a big game yet (i'm terrible with dates) and only did walk on's. I think the best thing about a walk on is the variety of the games. I used to play at congleton till chris poached me. They use to have the usual small maps then another day they would open it up over 2 maps and also different styles of games. I think catering for a whole range of players can be really hard and making everyone walk away happy is a monster task. The best thing with chris is he will always listen to the feedback and try and improve on it.
