Guys think we all need to chill. All DW is doing is opening up my idea for debate. He is questioning is it a step forward offering an alternative style to that of the established euro format that has been adopted by most. We feel the need to try other avenues and options. Who is trully to say what format is right or wrong. At the end of it all its the teams that will decide if they like it or not. ;)

Me and DW have been friends for a long time, and long may it continue so please dont see it as a personel issue as nothing could be further from the truth. We all have our own opinions and we all have the right to voice them in what ever style we choose. :)

I can explain why we decided to go down the route of PSP format at a later date if anyone is particularly interested. Just rest assured we intend to do this right and keep improving and its you guys that can make it happen by giving us the feedback and driving us on. :)

I have sat and viewed this thread and i can't understand what the problem is. From what i see is that the PA is no longer so a Midlands based tournament/league has gone. Rich is simply trying to fill that gap. Stop bitching and moaning and give the guy a shot at it. What i think would be a great idea would be to get all the interested team managers together and hold a meeting like the good old days of the PA and find out what the customer wants from a tournament. When the PA introduced this it was very refreshing an organiser who want to know what you want. Personally i would like to see a similar structure to the PA in the early days. Super quick turnarounds, a nice pitch to play on, a professional feel to the tournament, a locked tournament, a locked roster, the morning and afternoon sessions were great, and most importantly good unbaised refs. Training refs and introducing a pay scale for them was a good idea too, giving them something to work up too.

my 2 pence
I think possibly what some people are questioning is, is it a gap that needs to be filled?

Plainy the PA didn't have enough cash behind it to continue functioning. Seeing as teams are the primary source of cash for any organiser it seems bullish to expect Rich's series to be a new messiah in paintball when the two longstanding series in the country are currently doing so well (i assume this to be the case having looked at how many teams both of them seem to be bringing in.)

The problem the PA had was that it was idealistic by its very nature. They claimed to be the messiah of paintball and would bring it to the forefront of mainstream sports. Hell they even had an international sponsor and a TV slot. But in reality where did that bring us? Answer? No where. Were no bigger as a sport than before, people still think of paintballers as weekend warriors.

Rich has decided to go with xball full on (if i read correct) and i love this format. I mean the best year of my life was spent playing it. However current industry voices are pointing towards a reconciliation between the two major world series and of a format similar to that of the MS. So in what way does this make sense to all those people who want to play like the americans?

To address those who say we're lagging behind the states in terms of our playing style and this could go some way to redressing that i say - bull****. A box of paint costs $25. $25. Thats f*cking nuts. They can play way more than us. They do play way more than us. Kids play during weeknights, all weekend. Christ even the adults do that. Does europe? Hell no, weekends are it.

But why do we need to emulate the americans? How many of us are actually going to play in the American leagues? Or play Americans? in general? and just because we've played a small tournament series? Why is everyone so obsessed with doing what the americans are doing? It plainly doesn't work in Europe. It's been tried before by a tournament series who take in a large amount of cash and even then it just didn't fly. People should stop concentrating on what the Americans are doing and start concentrating on one series (whichever it may be), and training properly the rest of the time. Players want the glory and so go and play all and sundry but dont want to put in the effort to get the real glory. An upside of this is that aligning yourself to one series helps keep that series floating.

However some of the blame should also fall to the organisers. They have talked and talked and talked about joining up and becoming one series. If they actually did it, (in this country at least) they could easily rival the MS in terms of teams. They could really put on a spectacle. However, everyone wants their piece of the pie and rightly so, but if they could just see past their own wallets for a while they could create something so much better than what they currently have. I am however living in a dream world. It'll never happen.

The PA was great, i truly believed in its ideas. I wanted to believe in the hype but deep down i couldn't. Every tourney that it did, it didn't live up to what it promised. Simple as that. I just hope Rich doesn't fall into the same trap.

QFT. That's what I've been thinking for years. Well done sir.

So does nobody just play paintball for the enjoyment factor now?? Does that mean if one series starts telling players to wear pink bikini's then all must follow?

We offer a choice, doesn't mean we can't offer a millenium style in the future just that we like the PSP style rules and formats and wish to offer that. Like ive said earlier its paintball at the end of the day. You go onto the field to shoot out the opposition in basic terms regardless of which ever rules we are using, Millenium or PSP. Part of the reason why we wish to use the PSP rules are because we like the penalty box system. We like the bunker types and field layouts. Its personal choice.

Rich my friend, you've hit the proverbial nail on the head...does anybody play for enjoyment now? Previous answers on these forums would say that no they dont, but then the actions of the players would say yes. They play as many series as they can and dont actually train.

Like you say its personal choice. You have decided to run with a format which has been proven time and again that for a lot of players it isn't financially viable. I wish you the best of luck with it. I know your hearts in the right place. Perhaps you can make headway where others have been unable to.

(proven in europe that is)

Part of the problem is that people pressume full x ball is still the 40 min game and ya shoot 30 plus boxes of paint which is not feasable at the moment. If you look at the current rules for Divisional x ball it is a 15 min match, race to 7 points with 2 min turn arounds where the clock stops between points. Div 3 (or 4 ??) x ball is 10 min matches. As it was stated by my partners post earlier we are looking at offering the best value we can with the highest quality. Plus were not just offering x ball, we can look at the div 3 style x ball which is race to 5 points if teams want it, plus a 5 man league and we are also looking at an entry level fun format for newbies. We will be putting a press realease out soon once i have spoken to a few more in the industry then all will hopefully become clear. :)
