It seems to me that if you are not into or have not been introduced to paintball you never hear of it. If as a paintball community we want it to grow shouldn’t it be publicly advertised in some way.
For instance, why not have games at local fairs. Use half a football field. Yes I understand that netting would have to be erected but surely how hard could this be. See if local paintball shops would sponsor these mini games with paint. Perhaps local clubs in each county could share their nets. The local clubs could over see the event in their area. I’m sure local teams would gladly give their time to play. Let the public play at a reduced rate. Have a small tourney with seasoned teams so that the public, could see how exhilarating paintball is.
The more people are interested in paintball, the more money is made by clubs and shops.

The netting aint too easy to do as you need suitable poles ect to do it, the main issue is cost and insurance though. I doubt anyone would want to fund it.

We tried a local tournament at a church fete several years ago using an existing fenced basketball court as a playing ground making it much easier to net off however the organisers didnt feel the need to net off the top of the court and as you can imagine the moment the first game was played and balls inevitably bounced of bunkers games were halted and the operation was stopped dead in its tracks.

Unfortunately it's wonderful to dream about a united community doing their part to push the word but paintball is predominately played with egos at the helm (and make no mistake I'm not refering to the marker when I say that). Most of the players relish the fact they have something they can show off, something they can be linked to, exaggerate and use as a calling card amongst their friends. The fact of the matter is no matter how old the average player is the game is very immature, both in who its played by and how its organised. Thats not to say everyone is marked with the same brush and make no mistake, there is people out there who have very wise heads on their shoulders doing everything they can to add stability and organisation to the game but the majority of players do fall into a similar catagory. We've all heard the Gorillaz song, 'Kids with guns'.

Yes, insurance and cost are the main hurdles but wouldn’t it be in the best interest of the business side of paintballing. Surely out of all the shops, paint, clothing, markers and all the other multitude of companies who are making a good profit to sponsor and encourage something like this. It’s a well known fact that advertising creates profit. I think the problem would be to get the companies to come together instead of being a single company sponsoring a single thing.
Yes I know that shops don’t make vast profits, well most of them.
