perfectly safe.you can give your bank details and all they can realitscally do with them is deposit money.

as with any transaction, wait till funds show in your account before shipping any goods.

Totally safe for receiving funds.
I personally wouldn't send money by bank transfer without serious knowledge of their credibility, and first taking other pertinent details such as a phone number.

My brother lost over £700 by bank transfer, so am wary.

in terms of the money arriving safely its perfect, however if you are the buyer you have no claim to your money back if the seller doesnt ship etc...without a court case.
where as with paypal they have a dispute procedure that allows you to claim your money back within 30 days.

however i tend to use bank transfers more and more these days as there is no fee and most stuff i buy from people on forums is low value (less than £50) or i know them from a tournie or i know their team etc....same as most poeple are usually comfortable transfering cash to me because most of them on here know where i work etc....and of course you dont pay your bank a fee.

good advice, get an address obviously for shipping and a landline number which you should ring for the sake of confirmation. Neither party need feel awkward, a simple phone call will give you the opportunity to verify the buyers details, and for hiim to verify yours.

Even with "safe" options such as paypal, for an item of a value you wouldnt be happy to just throw away or lose, I would get into phone contact.

An alternative, though means some effort. Is to get their bank details, and name etc and pay it in to your local branch.

They MAY confirm the name on the account is the same as you have on the bit of paper. But they should also give you a receipt, which is better than just your say so, if anything should happen. Police don't want to have to do any leg work, to ask their bank if you paid any money in.
