i got this email a few days ago:


Subject: Police Warning!!!

Dear Friend & Parishioner,

Please, read this important notice from the Police:

If you receive a phone call on your mobile from any person, saying that he or she is a company engineer, or telling that they're checking your mobile line, and you have to press #90 or #09 or any other number, end this call immediately without pressing any numbers.

There is a fraud company using a device that once you press #90 or #09 they can access your 'SIM' card and make calls at your expense.


Forward this message to as many colleagues, relatives and friends as you can, to stop it.

there was an email adress and number with this email but i didnt include them in.

so what you guys think, true or not??

I think the programme the real husstle did something on this before and from what i remember it was true, re-directing calls via some prime rate phone number or something.... but I agree with Kat for once

sounds like a crappy chain-mail to me... doesn't sound possible - why on earth would a phone company have this available in the first place??

its not directly from the police, but from some one who loves him. have you not got a special friend ?

Its possible to hack somone's phone through blue tooth and make calls to numbers through that handset. People who do this make a premium rate number and make other peoples hand set call it so they can make £1.50 a minute or whatever they charge. That's what they did on the real hustle but I can't see how this phoning sombody up and getting them to press that would work.
