pmr bolt not screwing back in

hi unscrewed my pmr bolt to lube it a bit and see if it was ok then tried to put in back in but it doesnt twist all the way in there are visible threads of the backcap now when i use the allen key to try and tighten it further the allen key turns in the backcap without moving the backcap do i just need a bigger allen key?

Hi Mate,
Looks like you have a plastic back cap. The thread is probably ok but you have rounded the allen key insert. You need to change the backcap for an all metal. And remember to only tighten the back cap 'finger tight' with the allen key. Don't crank it tight.

so is there no way of keeping the plastic backcap and screwing it back in as am supposed to be using it tomorow?

ok no worries i was able to twist it with my fingers whilst using the allen key to get it to screw back in thanks for your help though mate

Wouldn't risk using it tbh mate, you might have a job of getting it out again.

hmm well its screwed in now, i think i should be able to get it out again do u think itll be ok to use tomorow?

It may be an obvious thing to say but you know theres a groove you need to line the bolt up with before it goes in ?

Yeah going to say the same thing .. the little grub screw that sticks out of the side of the bolt near the back cap needs to be inline with the little groove / hole thing in the breech

yeah i lined it up i managed to get it in i think as someone said above ive weared the allen key hole away abit but ive got it in now using hands lool will test it tommorow

Get a metal back cap and the other prob you might get is if you have pinched the "O" ring at the front of the back cap insert. This will prevent you winding the cap all the way home too.
