Polls are fine to show the general consensus on an interesting matter, but I'm pretty bored of all the polls we have going on right now. I don't care who everyone thinks is the best uk sup'air player, I have my own opinion thanks. And just to negate the bitterness of my statement: poobumwilly

Seems like the threads that get the most activity in here, are the polls. Which I think is weird, as I prefer open discussion to closed.

So here's a poll.
So the logic here is

Kill the polls and reduce the forum activity

As most polls still allow open discussion, where is the problem

But then I'm biased :D:D:D:D

I like polls as nice neat way to organize forum opinion. I think they're a valid form of tool to use on the forum.

Sometimes though I think the people that set up the polls could put a little more forethought into the questions as well as the options and the wording of each.

I don't feel that fisticuffs and good forum debate are being oppressed by the inclusion of polls, but I feel that it is because of the lack of some catalytic members of the forum that are no longer frequenting the boards.

Agreed but you should also not show the results until the time limit for the poll has been reached. It would then be a truer reflection of what people think, especially in the "who is better than who" type polls. i.e I am going to vote ofr X just so that Y doesn't win.
