My last parcel came from socal with a value of $150. I had it marked as 'gift' and it was here inside 7 days with not a sniff of a charge:)

Awaiting on another parcel that was shipped last friday from the same place. Fingers crossed theres no 'new rule' in place coz I dont fancy coughing up any more money to her majestys coffers:cool:

Godamn tax in this country:mad::mad: drives me up the wall it does:D

well that sounds somewhat better. Don't fancy a £27 quid charge. I didnt buy from the states because it was cheaper before anyone has a pop, bought it from their because they had the item in stock (Myth reg)

Ideally, anything from the USA should be sent USPS Global Express, takes a few days (fastest I have had was 3 days 20hours for a Timmy solenoid).

You can track it all the way to the UK, then you will be able to see if customs will be charging you, then track it to your local Parcel Force depot (they are the UK Couriers). If it says "Out for delivery" your good. If not, it will say so and they will send you a letter.

Gift etc doesn't work. Period. If it gets pulled, it gets pulled that is all there is to it. There is very little you can do to avoid customs charges, lowering them is more possible and legal.

You have to remember, that shipping cost is added to the declared value, then they start charging. Any item under $36 is usually OK.

But your $40 item, lets say $25 shipping. That's $65, so say £35.

Then there is duty at whatever they decide, flat rate is about 7-10%
so that's £3.50 on top, so now £38.50, plus the VAT which would make it about £45 then the UK courier may charge you a handling fee which is between £8-£13.

So £50-£60. If your unlucky.

Mind you, it's just what I have heard, I have little personal experience of it;)

Where did you buy it from?

Someone off the nation.

paid $80 all in for it, but $40 of that was shipping (he has said he over charged me for shipping, and will be giving me some back)

We will see, more bothered about it arriving before the weekend, dont mind paying some fee's, long as its not stupid

Well if thats the case then I am a very, very lucky person as the last time I got charged by customs was about two years ago and i order bits at least every few months or so.

Like I said...I guess I am just lucky then. You watch now.....my next package will be taxed to the hilt just to really rag me off:cool:
