:p sorry man, u miss interpreted it... i suppose i had better add this in...

it was hosted at mayhem, where (for pretty much the reasons this post started) theres about a 200 yard walk from the field to an armoury, where you hand your marker in, you then go into the communal safe zone, and only then can you take your goggles off...

so everyone had gogg's on :p

but i know what you mean anyways :)

I'm a country member!
You actually got shot through the netting or a ball or two bounced of a bunker and over the netting?

Were there actual holes appearing in the netting, or not?

I saw no evidence of the netting failing, it was 5 - 6 metres tall tournament grade netting and there were plenty of people stood at the field ends and right next to the netting spectating on both Saturday and Sunday without problems.

I'm sorry, but unless the fields are fully enclosed and hermetically sealed then a few paintballs are going to escape. Reading is one of the best sites I have ever been to as regards the small amount of paint escaping the fields, you should go some other places I can think of.

To avoid it totally, get a full risk assessment of any sporting activity you wish to undertake and then take up tiddly winks, but be sure to wear your paintball goggles at all times as a stray one of those little gits can really smart.

"Gimp" would be a first choice. Apart from the Sado term, it's also applied to persons who walk funny.

Could be "Gorp".

Gorp is Hagred's half brother. He is a Giant and is a clumsy, possibly retarded lump. (not our Lump!)

Could also be a "Gamp". This is a large umbrella, with it's origins in "Martin Chuzzlewit" by Charles Dickens, where Mrs Gamp carried a large umbrella...ella...ella...ella...eh...eh.

Could be a "Gawp", possibly inferring the perpetual look on a persons face, making them appear to be simple.

Or of course, a "Gump", as in Forest Gump. A dolt or simpleton.

Or it could be a typo.:D

On a less serious note. It should not be commonplace to be shot while outside of the netted area. The occasional rebound from a bunker, maybe, but holes etc in the netting should be dealt with.
Of course, as our illustrious Moderator pointed out, you should inform the organisers, at the time.
jus to mention grawp was hagrids half brother not gawp, gawp is a term used to describe somone that is staring or oggling  and pretty obv it was gimp dint need to sensor it though
