you could get a pmr of here for the basically the same price as a new ion, the pmrs are a load better then the ions, and better then the slgs.

I'd say the ION because i'm getting one as my first :)
Well unless it is an upgraded one then you are limiting your options straight away. A Standard Ion is not equivalent to a PMR in features but cost about the same. The SLG is just a cheap PMR and only worth buying if you have an extremely tight budget and I would still recommend a second-hand PMR over a new SLG anytime.

I'd have to disagree that the slg is a cheap pmr - they aren't even close to the same gun - The SLG is an eletro-sear tripper, if a more refined one with the single tube design, whereas the rail (PMR) is a slightly stripped back version of a proper matrix. I used to shoot an Ion, did me great as a first gun, but I would probably go for a rail if I was buying again. At the time there was no rail. I think for the extra tho it is well worth getting a PMR over the SLG.

ION is simpler in terms of off comes the back cap and bolt is out, not as much compared to the pmr and slg bolt kits, the ion is heavier and the pmr is the only one that comes with a respectable barrel, the pmr trigger is the best imo. There are plenty of functional upgrades, feednecks, asa etc, for all 3 guns. They are all reliable and shoot fast enough, but the pmr takes the cake in terms of value for money, in most cases its the same price as the ion. If you want to take you pmr to the next level, the SE version is £199 and the pmr with UL frame is also £199, i would get the UL.

I've owned all 3 and would deffinately recomend either a PMR or SLG over an ION. My vote would be to buy a PMR and as ion crazy has said, get an u'l frame cos their the dogs ;)

I think that the ul pmr isnt actually worth its money if you get an upgraded trigger for the stock frame then you shoot fast enough. The pmr is a great starter marker and i have used one very succesfully with no troubles what so ever. The UL Frame actually makes the pmr a little bit heavier but adds a tottally different feel to the gun. Go with what you can afford but most people will suggest the pmr as it is a great gun and worth its little money it costs. personally i think they should go up in price (so i get more for mine :p) good luck with whatever you go with though :D

SLG over ION

ions seem to be heavier harder to maintain and have in my opinion been outdated. slgs on the other hand have come into the market a little min god, ive had tech sessions on the little blighters and have brought them down on site to use as a woodsball gun for a friend. he loved it. the trigger is a problem and so is the feedneck but those are upgradable. a resonable barrel is definatly something a little later. but all this aside, get one and i think you will love it.

manners how could you:eek::p
ION i think is beter, i'havnt shot the slg but i realy dont like the fell of it atall,
and a many upgrades for the ion.

oh and the matenincance of the ion ISNT as bad as people say, well it may be the first time but i found it alot easier than i actually thought.
