Pro players ????????

all of Legion.
Also I remember reading (in pgi actually) a while back that Bob Longs boys used to get $1500 (i think thats the figure) per tourney.

Ok I rightly stand corrected, and remember that now from PGI as well about the RL, but even then they don't make huge amounts of money from it. The only person who is really making "Pro" (by other sports definitions,) money is Ollie.

The point is that people keep bandying the term "Pro" around and need to remember that paintball has a different definition of "Pro" from other sports. Pro does not mean paid oodles of cash like in Football.

I think you are mistaken, there are other players not just Ollie ;)

i agree eith dskize, pro players are given their tops, often way more than just one, so why should they profit off the top? They are given the chance to play the game they love and fork out for travel and fees only. We sorry amateurs have to pay for every little thing. I don't see a problem with people selling pro tops on for money as long as its not the pro.
The way I see it, is that the jerseys are part of the payment that the sponsors give to their players, for their hard work as players in representing their brand.

So basically, it's part of their wage.

You don't go up to a random person in the street and ask them for money now do you?

It's the same principle.

And as for your bitching that you as amateurs have to pay for everything, well, no one started playing as PRO, and we've all had to pay for everything for many years before we practiced hard enough and got good enough to play at a higher level, and get more perks from sponsors.

Way to half quote me!

(this is not aimed at anyone or anyteam btw)

You guys complain that you have to fork our for flights, accommodation, entry fee's.... what about us normal folk.. that have to do just the same, but with out the discounted (if not free) Gun's, gear and paint.

Read above.

So you have to pay for the stuff you buy? Boo hoo hoo.

Guess what? So did I for many years, and I still sacrifice almost everything I have to be able to attend the events, so if I got a chance to sell one of my jerseys, I'm sorry but I'd have to do it.

I've even had to sell some of the jerseys that friends gave me, and I hated it, but having a roof over your head and food to eat beats the hell out of having a jersey on your wall.

I've had friends sell some of my jerseys and it's a situation I understand, it's less than ideal, but necessary sometimes.

But I would never give one of my jerseys to some random kid that just came up and asked, I'd have to know him first and actually know he'd appreciate it and not just go on PbNation to sell it. And they'd have to earn it.

So called "PRO" players have a way harder life than most of you would guess.

Who Tom ? I think you're going to have to name and shame who makes as much as Monsiour Lang for playing professionally. And thats being paid to fully play professionally, not getting paid to play a tournament, or working for a paintball company, or making money from item sales. But traditional pro player (like all the other sports) pay. :)

Don't forget though, with the $$$$$$$ that Ollie Lang learns, he also works at Dye and his wage is included in this.

He doesn't get as much as you all think just for playing.

I don't think I need to;)

Just read more and you will find out, alo there are players paid better than Ollie. As someone mentioned here he is Dye employee... He does lot of clinics but there are others too. Miko etc...

The deals are much more complicated than many keyboard warrior realise.

I would love to play on pro level, but I would always keep my job as I am very confident Ollie is nowhere close to my salary :D

Shush or you'll have me start whinging to the wife that I want to go back to IT Contracting again.......*cry* I miss that lovely money :(

Fair point Ollie is also a Dye employee but he more closely fits the "Pro" player tag from other sports to the average person. Probably because he's also the most high profile. He does have some nice sponsorship deals however. I don't think he makes that much from the Clinics.....at least not if he's on par with Nicky T and the Nexus boys who don't exactly make much of a profit from what they charge for their clinics.

I think that it is the players choice to do what they want with it.

I have received multiple tops for free while partying with the now retired Miami Effect guys . As soon as I got back to my local field I handed them over to younger players where a pro top would mean more to them. Most of them were 1-2 years into playing and it meant a lot to them. It was good to find out that some of the tops was passed along to another younger player that just started out at the field for free.

The thing is now the sport is in more of a slump than before so I see why players would now more than before charge for tops and what they get from sponsors due to the lower amount of items that have been flowing into their hands.

I think it is nice to pass it to younger players to some of then it means world :)

I would personaly never buy pro top as I rather wear mine own, and if someone gave me one I would pass it on to someone who can not afford one...
