The problem is that doing it costs $15,000, minimum. So even at $10/person, you need 1500 paying people to break even. I don't think that's happened yet.
What about the sponsors of the NPPL Live - don't you think that would off set some (if not all) of the costs, thus making it a lot more viable???

I must admit i'm intregued where you get your rumours from as i hear very different info from possibly the most informed of people regarding the NPPL ;)

Well, I did say it was a rumor, but the source is good and it makes sense. Nothing to say NPPL doesn't change their mind though (assuming the rumor is true), especially if PSP manages to serve up a decent web cast of Phoenix.

Also keep in mind though that depending on who your most informed source is, they may have an interest in presenting the most optimistic outlook possible. ;)

All cost cutting makes sense Chris but maybe (hopefully) this time it proves to be just a rumour because a bare bones event with no bells and whistles is somewhat of a slippery slope methinks especially when we factor in the financial state of tournament Paintball at present.

Let's hope Nicky's sources are right on this occasion.

If a tree falls on a bear in the woods ...
What is the value of bells and whistles when nobody (apparently) is paying any attention?
If current calculations don't think it's possible to get break even money from a worldwide audience for the biggest 7-man event of the year (based on Chi-town's estimates and one4one's broad concurrence) I gotta wonder if the slippery slope isn't something we have yet to climb--not fear falling down.
And as for potential advertisers supporting the webcast their interest is likely directly proportional to audience size so it would be interesting to know what past casts have achieved in audience.

That said I think the webcasts are cool and all but I'm unconvinced that its a marker of any real consequence.
