7 Man Tournament - Blackpool beach?

I'm really eager to see this go ahead. Personally I'd consider drawing in other extreme sports... im sure skating firms would consider setting up a half pipe for a mini vert event when the balling is quiet. At the end of the day its in their best interest. This might draw in more spectators and in turn more potential players, might have to be a July/Aug time event to catch the height of the 'british heatwave'...

If you need any help consider this me volunteering.

Good luck dude.

the thing im looking forward to the most if this happens (and i truly hope it does) is playing in front of a "real" crowd not just the other players in the tourny.

The two statements are not mutually exclusive
Some beaches the tide goes a long way out, e.g. Southport
On some beaches the hightide, still leaves a good expanse of sand
I wanted to know what the situation is at Blackpool.

havn't the slightest mate, i just like making twatty comments when im bored ;)
i still cant see there being enough room for 3 or 4 fields on the beach, unless you had people walking miles from the safe zone.......
im guessing the pier is quite big?? wouldn't that be a better idea??

another thing you would have to take into consideration is security, i personally wouldnt like to leave my grands worth of setup lying around for the scratty ch4v teenagers to come and nick.....

You are quite right, the tide will make setting up & playing on the beach a bit tricky, unless you are half man half fish - and have a waterproof housing for your marker!

The promenade, pier and a 1000-seater purpose built arena are the better suited locations for setting up a full tournament on, and I am including all of these in my proposal to the Council.

I am also suggesting "piggybacking" the event with a skate or bmx event at the same time, along the lines of the X Games.

I'm having a meeting today, so I will post up some more info over the weekend or by Monday at the latest.

Stay tuned!

:)

Security will also be taken care of - I don't want the same thing to happen to player's cars and gear that happened at Crystal Palace a couple of years back.

pull some strings, get some retired SAS down ;)

we had some retired SAS security firm on one of our construction sites as we were loosing more money on stolen materials than we were spending on staff costs....... to say we ended up spending more on SAS security that stolen materials and staff costs put together would be an understatement :eek:
