Is there a maximum age limit for affiliated players?
Might be interested.

No, seriously!!

Dougal ;)
Don't quote me on this, I'm just taking a guess.

I think the idea is that it is players who they hope will be the future of Nexus, so I'd guess they need to be relatively young?

Ok, just to elaborate on this, this is all about getting future players lined up to play on Nexus full time. Despite what is said about UK paintball, there are a lot of potentially great players out there, a lot of them bothered to come to our trial last Sunday and for some it has really paid off.

However, the last thing we want to do is sign up these guys and have them sit on the bench all year watching the first team play and not play any tournament ball themselves, at the end of the day we are all players and watching is no fun.

So the idea is to have an affiliation with the selected players whereby they come to training with Nexus say, once or twice a month so we can see how they’re getting on yet at the same time be free to play on their current team at events. They will get the same gear as us except for the Jersey, this comes later if it all works out.

We haven’t discussed age limits, having young guys is all well and good, but at the end of the day, should they make the first team they are expected to make every practice and all events so you need to have transport, a bit of money etc which a lot of kids haven’t got.

Last Sunday was a great opportunity to get picked up on this, it’s amazing to hear some of the excuses as to why players didn’t make it down for the trial but would we still be interested in them, well no, not really. If you didn’t exhaust every method in trying to reach the trial then you’re probably not right for us – some guys flew over from Portugal to try out, some guys also were prepared to fly over from the USA !!

Sorry its taken me a little while to reply but id like to take this chance to publicly thank Nexus and Dye for this opportunity. The 08 season should be a pretty exciting one and what better way to start it than San Diego.

Cheers for the support,
