OK I have been paintballing quite a lot really but I have never actually bought myself a paintball gun and well I know this site is full of well experienced people so what i'm looking for is a semi-auto (don't want full auto) preferably one that is customizable. As a student money ain't the easiest thing to come across so i'm looking at a full kit for under £200 like.
Do you think it will be best buying new or preowned because well I don't like those cheap helmets, not comfy enough for me
Thanks

Pre-owned, but not sure if you can get all the kit for under £200. Air bottles themselves on this forum get sold for around £70-£110 (For carbon-fiber/composite) and the steel bottles are much cheaper but heavier and alot less comfortable to play with. Hopper, you can get a good starter hopper such as the Egg (Viewloader evlution 2 or 3) for around £30. Pack can come to around £15 and playing kit around £40-60. An ion with a few upgrades can come in at around £100 and is a good starter marker, although you can buy a stock PMR for £150 and it's brand new. That's just my point of view, I'm sure someone else will come along and tell you what you should buy

And anyone that flames my post will be given to my ninja cat, although corrections are appreciated :D

based on your budget - most definitely pre-owned, and as jtd said I think you'll struggle to get it all for under £200, £300 is a more realistic figure for all the kit.

As if by magic.....I could do you my old Dm3, fully upped you're have to do nothing to it, OK it's a bit heavy compared to todays markers but it would last you well enough and there would be room for you to tinker with it.
Got a couple of things wrong with it but they in no way affect performance, comes with a tadao M5 board so you can have as many settings as you like from semi-auto to fully auto. I'd be looking for no more than £100 for it.

I've got a few bits coming up shortly that you might be interested in.

Don't listen to him^^^(JTD)...:p
Ion's are very good markers, cheap, easy to upgrade and good ROF.
Most people do move up from Ion's but it's not essential, personally I hate the starter marker title, either buy wisely the first time(hopefully following advice from on here or equivalent p/ball experts:rolleyes:) or buy something **** and we can laugh:p.
Ion's,Angels,Ego's are all at a premium due to the seconhand market it comes down to money and then personal choice(what it looks like..);anything popular is always a good bet due to the knowledge base on here.
As for hoppers..some people hate eggs,I love them and I've tried everything else available, they are cheap because they're not trendy and will keep up with any legal ROF,they keep up with my marker ramping at 15 bps what more do you need,I admit that Halo's,Pulses, etc, etc feed faster than eggs but they all have their faults and I couldn't get on with them:eek:.
It's sometimes hard to get an unbiased pov on here because of peoples personal experiences.
Ask before you buy most people on here will gladly help either publicaly or via P.M,see the classifieds for prices...good luck.

Very good markers for the money, but need upgrades straight away, his budget won't cover that...secondhand perhaps;)
So do Ion's ;)

I've just gotten an SLG and love it - The only upgrade I feel is needed is a clamping feedneck. A new trigger isn't completely necessary if you fine-tune the stock.

Board issues? I heard so from the first batch but this one seems absolutely fine.

Not sayin' that Ion's aren't ideal as starter markers, but the build quality and ease of maintaining the SLG suuurely puts it leaps and bounds above the Ion ;)
