How badly is oil price going to affect paintball ?

I would have thought so too. Punters will normally goto a site once or twice a year with a group of mates to have fun. Tourney players will be playing regularly , twice or more a month.
Its not just about paint prices buddy
Someone who knows oil prices will affect everything in life.
It would probably not affect for those who are young, single and live at home. But for those who have to feed a family, own a house, business or a car , its going to make a huge difference .
Fact is the petroleum based ingredients in paintballs are the tip of the iceberge. Like Beaker said the price of oil effects everything for example:
Say you play a tourny,
HPac has to bring the air fill rigs and power their generators, their costs go up so charge the organizer more. The portaloos need to be transported to and from the event, organizer pays more. Marshals have to travel, if there travelling costs go up they'll want to be paid more to make it worth working tournies all of which means :
Entry fees go up!
Manufacturers Transport costs increase, cost of materials go up and market slows down as people having less money means less demand for products which means:
Price of Kit goes up!
Add this on top of the fact that everything is getting more expensive and people struggle to afford to play.
Turnouts at tournaments go down, possibly.
As someone with a mortgage, car and have to drive around 200 miles+ a week for work money is pretty tight as it is.

um...I am quite unfamiliar with the UK prices and standard etc. I assume that the UK have UK based-american companies, so manufacturing plants in the UK. One thing the UK NEED is their own major manufacture (zap/chronic, draxxus etc). Why would that make a difference. For some reason I see that making a difference.
Also, why is it that the UK pay a lot of $$$?
I think we in fact pay more if you are a normal player here. We have a special (I mean REAL special) sponsorship w/ chronic, but a decent case of paint in Canada (XO V1) is 60 (which is like 30 quid). Anything less sucks. Also, the paint is always inconsistent cause it is almost always shipped from the states

try £1 per litre, 4 litres to the gallon if i remember right so around £4 or $8
ok, well the price of chronic for you guys is what I would expect. It's around $68 which is how much we would spend here. However on gas you are right. Now it's about 1.03/L which is around 50 (pence?). So, you end up paying double of gas. However paint prices seem to be the same. I spend $40 on a case of spank (I WOULD spend 40) and you guys are spending around the same (21 quid).
Um, not really. You need to check your definition of markup mate...
Markup is the price the SELLER puts his/her product at to be sure he/she makes a sensible profit on the product. If you're talking about the markup manufacturers put to a product, then sure, the site paint has a smaller one because they buy it in such huge quantities
But this thread is about the markup that we have to pay. So therefore, the tournament ball is closer to cost price, and has a smaller markup.
Either way, the cost will come in actually transporting the; paint, staff, packaging, machines etc. not actually the oil in the balls themselves. And this cost will not go unnoticed in other industries, so generally life will get expensive
