excellerator upgrade

I've got a JT Excellerator 3.5e and I wanted to upgrade some parts, at the moment its stock. I was thinking about a smart parts progressive barrel and a 12v revvy hopper. (also I'm going to buy an air tank) is the smart parts barrel a good choice? and does anyone have any other recommendations? I am fairly new to the scene ( I use to play woodsball in the 90's and haven't played competitively since) but i do want to start entering tourneys and walk-ons. any help appreciated. my bad if ive missed a thread that covers this

dude get a ion or if u play woods SP8 and no dont get a revvy get a egg its better also get a lucky unitec barrel by warped unitec very good quality also you are ableto match paint to bore sizes which stops chopping and increases accuracy. yes air is the way to go as co2 is very dirty. tourney u should just forget JT excellerator as it wont be able to keep up with dms egos or even ions.

If you want an honest opinion I'd say start with a better marker.
You will notice straight away an advantage with a better marker anything ION,EGO,ANGEL,TIMMY and very competitive seconhand prices from £80 up.
IMHO you'll just be throwing good money after bad if you try to upgrade the exlax.
I'm not saying that they are crap but they just will not perform as good as any I've named,don't see many JT excel's on the tourney scene.
Sorry not meant to offend but better now than when you've spent loads and then get told it's.....
My m8 had the Exll and I had a JT Orion changed it after 2 walk-ons....

Damn IjamesI,posted whilst I was typing(very slowly)...
As he said go for the egg(evolution 1/2 or 3),air and upgrade the marker accordingly.
If you buy 2nd hand you'll usually pick up a marker already upgraded.

yeah i know of the exlax's rep and didnt plan to use it in tourneys for more than a couple of months. I'm mainly using it for recballing until im back up to speed (oh how my fingers ache). Right, so the verdict so far is that i shouldnt bother upgrading it. although if i buy a better marker, surely the egg will fit on any marker (although honestly i think you're both right and its not worth upgrading a hopper with a rof 8bps). lol, thanks

Things like the hopper and the air can be swapped over as and when you change markers,they're always worth buying at the right price.
TBH you will find the EXo's limit's @ a pleasantly relaxed walk-on let alone a tourney;give yourself a chance @ least get a marker nearer the performance of the others on the field.

if I do get a new marker, (secondhand naturally) I'll want one i can keep and upgrade for a year (at least -unlikel;y though) so I'd get preferably a decent one,what are some 'good' markers as (shamefully) I can barely figure out whats good in the classifieds (fairly clueless)

Things such as the Ion and DM series (DM 4,5 and PM 5,6,7 ect) are great starter markers and are normally found in the cheaper bracket of markers due to them being a couple of years old. These markers tend to go for around £60-160 depending on age and upgrades, but any of them would be a good purchase for starting out and would see you through a couple of years play and keep up with more expensive/newer markers out there

Its a lot about personal choice so take a trip down to your local site/shop and have a look or try some markers, failing that research them and see if they will suit what you want to do with them.
