Iv got a 600W speaker and feel i should make use of it.
600W rated how?

If it's not rated in RMS then it's a mickey mouse rating that is useless!
Manufacturers use fictitious ratings to make their products appear better which looks something like this
10W RMS (not displayed on packaging but true reading)
180W Peak power (displayed sometimes)
2000W PMPO (displayed when your products really cack)
all figures are measured on the same speaker it's just the second 2 are total borrocks but the youfs of today believe them because they are sheep

(how many times will i have to repeat that in my lifetime)?:(

speakers dont have a real wattage, as wattage equates to power, they only have what they can do as a maximum, as long as you have a nice amp and some decent speakers you will be fine, subs are useless they just mess with the overall sound of the music, you want ones with a balanced acoustic response ( no too bassie to no tinny ) such as these http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/flypage/product_id/34225 but they are major over kill as they are monitors for recording studios. or just a nice set of headphones haha

I know Tom i know, you seen that programme on the telly "grumpy old men", well that's me that is, only younger;)
god knows, its an old speaker i found in the loft and it just says 600 Watts on it.
What should i look out for in an amp then?
and if I get a sub to add to it, does that go through the amp as well?
Any way that you do this you've gotta understand that it's going to cost you. I've built loads of high power car systems and everyone that i build the kid at first believes it can be done for £73.50 and a pint for my troubles:confused:
So taking it from the start, if you want "bass" then your going to need a subwoofer....yes it's an obvious statement but you'll also need an amp with a "sub output". most conventional amps do not have this so you'll need to trawl fleabay for a suitable "reciever amp" or get a home cinema one such as this Basic Cinema amp Once you have that then you need a sub Sub
and then a suitable pair of speakers Boom Shibang!
Already you've spent £290 and that's without cable and possibly a new sound card in your computer if yours isn't man enough to supply a strong enough signal to the amp?
I still say the easiest and most practical way is to buy a pc speaker system, you'd be suprised just how loud some of these can go 500 Watts of distortion in one easy deal ;)
It's your decision....Ebay would be best but you need to know what to look for.
Hope this helps:)

I said "i hope this helps you deaf git" :D
