right, im trying to set myself up a good (read: loud) sound system and not really sure how to go about it.

At the mo iv just got a small sub with a line in from my computer and two lines out, one for each speaker.
Problem is its not very loud, so I was thinking i need a proper amp, sub and speakers. But is the amp really necessary? and if so do you put the sub through the amp? and how much would these things cost?

thanks

pop on ebay and buy yourself a hifi amplifier + speakers, pop the sound card feed into the tape or aux input and viola mega sound for your comp.
Or pop over to your local council tip and grab one from there.

Theoretically there's no reason why you couldn't run a concert at wembley stadium from your computer assuming you had the money to pay for the gear:rolleyes:
Setting up a "PROPER" system is dead easy but will set you back hundreds and hundreds of pounds, you'd be far better off getting a ready to distort system from PCworld that will only have bass and treble but will bang out those stonkin tunes that you youngsters call music!

Before anyone has a go that was a sarcastic reply!
I love my drum and bass and a bit of trance too, but anything played on a PC is not real music!
most people that want a loud system can't hear distortion, they don't know what mid range is for and would not appreciate a true audiophile system even if it was gold plated and given away with a happy meal:(

thanks for the info lucky.
Im not planning on putting on a concert, but i want it loud enough for you to feel uncomfortable listening to it. More than your average ready made pc speakers.

Iv got a 600W speaker and feel i should make use of it.
