just put in 2 dust barrels - black and silver. Will see how it turns out. If I like it I will give my 06 black to yellow Infamous the same treatment.

I began the preparation by washing the two chosen un1tec barrels in a soap bath, then using some other cleaning compounds to get the remains of glue out of the surface of the silver one.

Put them in an electrical oven with temperature set to 250 degrees Celsius.

Checked on them again after 40 minutes - The black barrel changed color into a nice milk chocolate brown, while the silver one didn't seem to be affected at all... But wait a minute... there are smears on both barrels, with some glue remains leaving a slight blemish on the silver one's surface (not to worry, it will be covered up by the thread back anyway) - quickly removed them, cooled them, washed them again and then put them back into the oven for another hour to see if there's any change.

Below you will find picture showing the barrels before I put them in and when I checked on them after about 40 minutes.

Right after realizing that it needed more than 2 hours and should have been at full temperature:rolleyes: my barrel finally made quite a difference in colour. My pics are in the same place so the lighting is the same so the difference you see is the difference i got:

Before oven

After oven

Not having a go here but silver anodising is actually clear, i.e. no pigment introduced to the raw aluminium oxide during the anodising process. I would not expect to see much change here, unless say it was on titanium and you heated it to a much higher temperature. By baking the aluminium parts you are causing a change in the dye/pigment that was originally applied and results will vary as to the colour and composition of the original pigment.

As to the washing and removing the glue residue, that is what the rubbing alcohol in the original post is all about, to remove all traces of adhesives/oil/grease etc.

Though, all you ****ers baking all your bits has lead to my lights dimming and the boiler stuttering due to the unusual demand on the Nation's gas and electricity supplies over the past 24hrs. The polar ice caps will melt and we will all drown if you continue, then there'll be no paintball for any of us

You know how it is... Parents told you not to put your fingers into the power supply contacts on the wall but you still had to see for yourself... Some even tried licking it... I hoped for a milk-like effect.

As to rubbing alcohol, both me & my pop are of the opinion that all alcohol should be applied internally and so the only C2H5OH in my house is either whisky or mead... And I can say for sure he wouldn't be to happy about me cleaning the barrels with Chivas Regal... So I used a soap bath but didn't rinse the parts in clear water afterwards.
