Paintball is too cheap . . ?

Found this side of the argument and thought it would be interesting to see what the masses thought, where well informed or not it would be interesting to see what you think.

Paintballs are too cheap.

Reason
Internet bedroom idiots are allowed by suppliers to buy them and sell them for a £2 profit. Whilst this happens no real money will be invested into paintball because no return can be made.
Paint should be at least £50-£60 per box and only available from walkin shops or sites.

The "If it goes up to £50-£60 I would have to stop playing" argument
Yes you may. But this isn't killing paintball. 15 years ago there were around 500 teams in the UK all paying 6p per ball at a tournament.

If you can't afford £60 per box, don't play speedball in a tennis court with a machine gun, shooting at absolutly nothing.

My personal thing is if it was that expesive for non sponsered paint i'd have to work my ass off to play for a sponsered team. I've had a taste of it and it was gooooood! So it leaves the advantage of only realy committed tourney ballers left (I cant say I count myself amount them) but there it will be very hard to get new players in from rec-ball and the 'real' world.

It cost's me up to £25 a week for a decent training green fee and half a box of paint.
Thats the only reason I can play so oftern, when I get into tourniment season I definately wouldn't be able to play every one If i was ending up spending double a week, which would be a shame.

Also, it's fair sayig only dedicated ballers would continue, but having no money doesn't make you not dedicated, I'm just a student so most of my money does go on paintball, but if I ended up genuinely not being able to afford it I would have to stop.

I see the point, but I think as a hobby its expensive enough.

Ahh I see...to have a dedicated and succesfull paintball scene we have to set gameplay back 15 years...riiight.

Then again ...maybe more emphasis would be on movement instead of hosing lanes too restrict movement...

i'll say it here as well as where i originally posted it.

the guy is money driven, the guy will do anything to keep money. it took him at least a month to get a refund for an item i cancelled the order for.

its bull****. raising the price by as much as suggested would almost wipe out the industry

maybe paintball companies should invest in equipment to make their own balls, cos last time i check most were out-sourcing manufacture to pharmasuitical companies, thus lowering costs in the long run

Granted the Encapsulation process is not a particularly cheap process but considering the sport has become quicker and more paint fuelled so players are using more paint. Paint suppliers are the the side of industry that appears to suffer less than most.

The reduction of paint is a blessing as far as im concerned, the price of paint encourages me to play as i should and not at a budget and play more often.

a couple of years ago a walk on would cost entry plus paint at £60 a box.. Since ive come back to playing walk ons its just over half that..

If people cannot afford to play, the industry will suffer financially
