Reads like a quote straight from Greenpeace! Besides when I was a kid they said we'd be out by the Time I hit thirty, I'm thirty now and apparently I'll be ok till I'm about 80!
and most of your quotes read straight from the daily sport

I am with Lump, some good old fashioned UK based terrorism. Not to mess up our lives but rather improve them.

Was I at the protest, easy answer no. Hypocritical, yes. But I am as lazy as every1 else and am unfortunately self employed so i dont leave work.

The points on alternative fuels are some of the best in my opinion, however I have always thought that the switch will be incredibly difficult largely due to the cost to Multinationals and governments alike. Look at the size of the petro-chemical industry and imagine the cost of trying to make the switch. Astronomical! Included in this is the logistical and time factors of retraining and redistributing a global work force.
So even though I agree that there are alternative fuel sources is it practical or even possible to change from the current system?

cheers

I can promise you I have never read the Daily Sport. What I said stands though, I still have the Greenpeace leaflet stuck to the kitchen pin board that says at current consumption rates we would be out of fossil fuels by 2008. Worldwide fossil fuel use has increased massively since then (1988) and yet the date always moves on into the future.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in no way happy with our current fossil fuel reliance, or indeed with our current global climate outlook. I just don't feel that banning motor sport or hoping for another terrorist faction (yes I know it was tongue in cheek) is really going to solve much.

Oh, and the alternative theory I mentioned earlier? While I couldn't find the exact link, I did find this one that goes the same way.

Wakefield, West Yorks.
It can be fueled with diesel, kerosene, any grade of motor gasoline.

Every convert your car to LPG(autogas) its about 30p per litre, only down sides are a big spend when you convert your car, and you get about 4-5 miles per gallon less.. and you have to do more than 10,000 miles a year to see real benifits (about a £1000 saved on 10,000)

FFs, what a load of whiners. I was on the protests last time and what did it do........ f/all.

They dropped the price for a while then it shot up again. Aim your anger at the government, that's why our fuel is so ridiculously high.

This country is to expensive to run, way to many civil servants, way to many scroungers, way to many politicians. Anything the government funds is a money pit for everyone in it to dip their hands in.

Who pays for it........we do.:(
