Hi,

As Planet have stopped servicing the Autococker I've decided I might as well give it a go myself, I know the cocker isn't popular anymore but I do love my DC2 and I'd like to keep it running well!

So this morning my Dow 33 arrived (thanks Game) and so did my valve tool. Using the guide in my manual I've stripped and lubed the cocking solenoid and stripped and lubed the sear (on a side note, £16 for a can of HSS2000! It had better be good) Then I used the guide on Moody Paintballs site to strip and lube my main reg. Now I'm onto the valve and here my questions start...

1. Should I lube the pin that goes through the valve with Dow or paintball oil?

2. Does anyone know the size of the o-ring around the valve? Mine looks a bit worn so I might as well replace it. Online suppliers?

3. Should I lube the hammer and tube when I put it back together? If so which or both and Dow or oil?

4. Is it worth stripping down the LPR reg?

I think that will do for the moment, any advice appreciated :)

Cheers, Paul K

FWIW I've never used Dow internally on a cocker - only on the LP/HP regs. The rest I lube with a good quality gun oil, and shoot a through drops of oil through ASA to lube the ram.

Before specific lubes were available I made do with 3:1 oil, and vasaline for the regs on my old cockers. Nowadays use Gold Cup oil + Dow 55, and never get any real aggro. Don't go mad with the Dow 55 though it's designed to swell the o-rings (more than Dow 33) so could make reg's stick

Apart from light oil on the Ram Shaft, bit of Vaseline etc on reg springs and piston, you run the internals, valve, hammer etc...dry.

Flash told me this. Grit will stick to the internals and cause extra wear.

The most I did, was put a drop and I mean a drop of oil in the macro line from the ASA, and shoot it through with the barrel off.

Skeet's right - less is most defintely more. There's too much moving about and wear means timing slips.

If I was on an electro cocker, i'd grease the regs and nothing else at all. Unless there's a problem and I wanted to swell an oring or something, I vote go dry too ;)
