well if you say it can do 20bps then thats like 0.05 seconds (5ms) for a full stroke

why does that sound so wrong ? ;s

i worked out the bolt travelling at around 8.5 metre / second

anyone want to shoot me down/confirm its about right ?

and the acceleration of the bolt is *Very roughly*

4300 m/s^2

heh... surely not ?

Gone crazy, back soon...

Actually, I don't think that sounds so wrong.

5ms with a bolt stroke distance of what......20-40mm at most....thats not fast in the world of speed....I think that barely registers 1mile an hour.....but the acceleration.....hmmm that would be fairly large....about 16m/s/s based on my calcs.

So I think that sounds about right......feel free to correct me, I'm no physics major, but I am bored and at work:p

D'oh....you've done your maths.....how did you reach your figures?

urm something along the lines of

it travels roughly 4.3cm in 5 ms

so thats roughly 2cm in 2.5 ms

hence the speed is roughly 8.6m/s (i converted cm > m and ms > s)

so if it travels roughly 2cm at an average speed of 8.6m/s starting from rest i used a = v-u/t which is (8.6m/s)/(0.025s)

altho now i get an acceleration of 344m/s/s

urmmmmmm :S confused ! :)
