The PA Xball League 2008

Hi Everyone,

Well I have thought long and hard about if I should even run any events in 2008, last year as most of you will know we tried out Xball as the league format and before the season had even got halfway we had others who thought they could do it as well trying their own "lighter" version to add to their own paintball empire.
But I suppose all good things get copied by others (hell I copied it from the PSP) but it would be nice if they did it right and for the benefit of the players/paintball but I have give up thinking anything they do is good for paintball! and since I do not need paintball to make a living I was going to leave them to it but thanks to those who have called and encouraged me to do it again so it is not all left to them.
So this year I am going to call a spade a spade and it may make interesting reading on these and other forums.

Anyhow as the thread title says we ARE going to be running an Xball league in 08, it will be no more than six events none of them will be on the same dates as the Millennium so if you are thinking of doing some of those events do not worry about date clashes.
We will run two divisions only and may run division two a little bit more relaxed then the premier div one teams.
Both divisions will have the best reffing available in the UK with timed slots for all dates.
I have already had tentative request for places from about ten of last years teams and I am looking to make div one the strongest one in the country for a long time.

Entry fee is to be confirmed (it will not be more than last year) along with the date but we will not be starting before March.
The events will be hosted again by Ancaster paintball because we can not find a site who can provide better facility's and support in a central(ish) location.

We are also looking at doing a limited paintball day (not per game but amount used by the team per day) those events will be at multiple sites throughout the country but mainly in the midlands aimed at teams who may play events like the masters who would like a better value series with the full day fee being known before hand.
I believe you do not need to go to a event and shoot loads of paint with unpaid reffing staff deciding what is going to happen to you during the day.
So sod that lets bring enjoyment back to your game and see you go home with a smile on your face and cash in your pocket, each event will cost no more than £57.50 per player and that includes your paint on the day:).
Like the main PA series it will not exceed six events a year to give you time to save up and also keep your partners happy, there is no commitment required to play all the events just play as many or as few as you wish.

Any team captains who would like further details please on either series get in touch by PM or email with your name/team name and contact number and I will call you to give you all the information you require.

Thanks.

i heard rumours that there may be four divisions russel? It would help out the lower ranked teams alot but is this not going ahead ?
If the teams are there, of course I would run a division but in all honesty I do not think the teams will be there this season.
If you look at the forums you will see an awful lot of new organisers in the tournament market, some of them will undoubtedly fall by the wayside when they look at what they have to offer in terms of insurance ect before the first game even starts.
The truth of the matter the only is the only organiser's that I know has the correct insurance besides the PA is the masters and the Ionman series.
The rest may well have them but some, I know for a fact do not.
So if you factor in the amount of events people are putting on and you divide that by the number of teams who play it does not look rosie at all.
We (organisers collectively) must realise the state of the market and offer events accordingly because if we do not we could all assist in a total f**k up of paintball.
The vast majority of teams in the UK can only play at the most ten times a year and none of those do any training at all, if we encourage them to play more we may be successful in the short term but we will fail at the end, you can see the beginning of that at the moment.

Us at East Coast Irritant might be interested but depends on the entry as these events are normally expensive!! but i don't know why. but i'm sure that is why a lot of Teams don't enter, eapecally the Teams that enter all the Millenium events
