DIY Micro-Cocker Project

Okay - Basically, I have always wanted a half-block cocker so have decided to have a crack at making one - you can send the bodies off to get machined, but it's expensive, plus just too easy ;)

If you don't know what a half-block is:

I had a spare body, so that will do - It's a KAPP body and before you ask I have no idea what model it is, anyone who knows what type of KAPP body it is, post up, would be awesome to find out.

Anywho I'm following the guides from here:

http://www.halfcocker.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=3

Eventually I aim to have a cocker body that has been micro'd. Where you cut an inch off the front of the body, an inch off the the back of the body, and half-block it. So really this is step 1 in 4 steps - It's going to be a long job.

Onto the job at hand:

Here's the body:

I marked out where the top tube was going to eventually be, and made the first incision a few millimetres back to give myself some playing room and made the cut, using a 24 teeth per inch hacksaw, which made light work of the aluminium.

I then made the second cut, again leaving enough room to play with when it comes to trimming it flush:

So the unfinished half body now looks like this:

The next step is to mill those few millimetres off the cuts I have made to get the right dimensions to fit a news bolt, sled, pin, and pump rod. For this I went out and laid down about £70 for a drill press and cross vice. I'll write about that when i do it, probably next weekend.

I'm ordering the JCM bolt/sled/pin/rod from White Wolf Airsmithing:

Anyway, thought you guys might like to watch as it progresses. I will keep this thread updated whenever I do some new work on the marker.

So far, so good.

nice so far. you are just trying to make mine tho arnt you!;):D
you would need a mq tho:eek:
Yes, yes I am, but better :p

I'm working on getting my hands on an mQ valve but so far no luck - I really don't want to mill the slot for the hammer, and mill the hammer - so if anyone can get one, or is going to buy the new mQ2, then get one for me too - y'all know I'm trustworthy lol...

Apparently loads of people have been messed around by Bob 'Turtle' Long and as such no-one will recommend going to him now because of his unreliability and slow turnaround and communication. Just what I've heard though. Thanks for the vid - that's a good'un.

Hehe, think I've got my hands on that Karni, the solenoid sounds buggered though so we'll see what happens. As for the Ego frame, that's what this project cocker is going to have on it soon as I get my hands on one. There's probably a karni with an Ego frame on PbN somewhere I'll let you know If I see one...

Thanks for the kind offer Tom, I will most likely need your help by the time I am done, I'll keep updating this thread whilst I do it and I'll contact you if I get stuck. Thanks again.

Right, so last night I milled the gun to a +/- 0.5mm tolerance, I'll update the thread soon with pics and the process. Bear with me.

Thanks for the response guys - I'm really looking forward to showing you a finished project :D
