If you fail to see the racism/nationalism in the suggestion that UK members should have more privileges than other members, you should really go read a book. Hence the suggestion. So go read a book. One on modern history. It'll do you good.
Riiiighhht... because the UNITED STATES doesn't appear at the top of EVERY country list on the internet? Do you hear people complaining about racism for that? NO! it makes perfect sense to have the most popular user of the website to be at the top, just like it's a waste of time to put UK in every for sale thread on the forum.

If you're still determined to appear like a world-wide forum, why don't you tweak the classified thread making code to put [UK] in front of every thread title?

i'm with Lucky on this, it's a clearly idiotic penalty for a pretty dumb rule.

Location, Location.
Was my "tone" aggressive?
Contradictory maybe, but surely not aggressive?
yes it was

I don't think the idea of using the system "correctly" is that outlandish/nationalist or racist.
no comment apart from i dont think he was infering that "using the system is nationalist or outlandish" I think he was referring to the fact of having it one way for brits and another for the rest of the world. :) <--edit: This looks to me suspiciously like a comment... I meant no comment whether it was nationalistic or rascist.

There's a box in the right hand corner that says "Location", fill it in correctly once and the mods can take the rest of the year off.

Simple, logical, easy.
And you expect me and 5 other guys to police every single account on here? All 16,200 (thereabouts) of them? It seems more logical and reasonable to ask you to put UK in the thread title doesn't it? :)

btw im not for or against, i rarely go into classifieds i just like arguing :)

Just a suggestion but what about a drop-down box during the classifieds thread creation screen that defaults to 'UK'? That way you can't create a thread without a location in the title/associated with the thread which will save moderating time/deletions and the 95% of people who are from the uk can effectively ignore that step...

Mario answered that one already. Like he said, I have no problem with a system, but I do have a problem with giving one nationality more privileges than the next. That's all really. It's one step down a slippery slope. A very tiny baby step, but a step none the less.

I have no idea of how feasible this is technically, but I ain´t hating the idea.

yes it was "I can't see it myself but i'm sorry in retrospect as i'm not one to intentionally offend anyone"

By doing a member search it took me 197 pages of 30 members, before i found the first person to make just 1 post, so that's 5881 members who signed on and never posted
7080 users have only posted once
and so on and on.
I don't believe for one minute that you'd have to check 16200 accounts?

Now most users are repeat addicts, so if we assume that we have 150 users on over 5 time zones during the day, that's 750 users in a day. Now throw in another 250 users for good luck and weekend variations then that's a 1000 users in a week.

Now if you place a nice polite request to correct your location status then i reckon you'd get a 60% positive response.

so 400 need a reminder?
How many threads have been deleted so far?
How many will be deleted in the future?

I know it's an argument that i'm losing and will not change anything but hey that's why god invented forums so we can argue about petty points with the Totalitarian regime........ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humour

Putting UK is a good way of showing what country you are from, what currency you most likely will use.

Putting nothing are relying on post count or membership status will be not enough once you find out that you gun is outside the EU and subject to taxes, or in a county that is currently under a postal strike  .

Maybe a little drop down box with the default value set to UK would be good. :)

Did we not discuss the correct usage of "LOCATION" in the top right of every thread?
