It really depends on many factors. If you are asking about a newer ego, like 07, or 08, i'd go with the mini any time. I've shot an SL66 and a Mini and I can easily say that they shoot the same, but thats just subjective. If you want the easiest gun to maintain out there, get the mini. If you want an lcd screen and a ton of upgrades, get the ego.

hi i own both

mini easier to service , shoots great
ego7 bit harder to service, shoots like a dream,

now bit of a storyt which should interestmost people thinking of buying a mini, 2 months ago(ish) i bought 2 silver minis,1 for my daughter, within a couple of boxes paint 1 of minis had bad air leak bolt /bolt guide were chewing each other up,chopping paint, was sent back to retailer who returned it to kee, was there fault not mine they sent me replacement out
once again within 2-3 boxes paint bolt /bolt guide so bad ,bolt couldnt travel fast enought along rouh guide to fire with any kind of speed
once again gun was returned, they admitted blame, said send new gun out, i saaid i had enough i would prefer a refund, which they agrred to

these 2 guns were new production 009xxx seriaal nos, my good working mini has a very close serial no, to me i can only think they have a bad batch of bolt guides or bolts

in inverts defense let me add make clear , they accepted responsibility and couldnt be faulted with there service,

1 of origanal minis still working fine, but now i have the ego7, mini is only used when a m8s gun goes down, was used most sunday by a m8 performed flawlessly

Wow. Just wow.
I suppose you don't own one.

edited to add a quote.. someone over at the nation said it all.

"As far as the mini being hard to understand... WHAT???
1. open box
2. ding fries are done

I tried reading the quest manual and started looking for my seat on the short bus."

You said maintain, not understand.

I shoot an Ion.
But I dont go around saying its THE easiest to maintain gun out there. Because its not.
For example, being able to slide the bolt out of the gun easily, having fewer active orings, makes alot of bang valve guns far easier to maintain than mine.

You mentioned the quest there, which is an interesting one.
Ive never even been near the manual but I have successfully stripped down and serviced a few quests. Its a very simple design which for a spool valve lends itself to easy maintinence as its so hard to get wrong with or without a manual.

On the other hand, friends of mine who own minis, following the manual (badly) have lost tiny bits of the gun, or fired the whole insides out the back, and eventually just gave up on it because of the hastle.

I think everyone can agree, having owned one or not, that the ego range is easier to look after than the mini.

for one, the mini has non- standard oring parts, tiny valve things to reduce air flow, and uses computer style connector prongs joining boards together.
