So it won't shorten the life of my marker.
There seems like there is no reason why I shouldn't get my marker manually engraved rather than laser.

The only potential problem, is the cost...if you want something complex done on a curved surface, it may be a problem for a conventional, engraving machine to do. Which means someone will have to use a rotary tool by hand...you could of course do it yourself.
