Northern Star Paintball Academy
Review: Wednesday 17th October 2007
Fabulous evening of Paintball, 10 teams (which could of been more, but had to keep to the 10 team limit, thanks to the guys and girls that didn't mind sitting out a few games to let others play), also our best number of spectators, altogether a head count of over 70, not including the wonderful staff. On to the review;
7 o'clockish start, with great excitement building from 6 onwards, then the paint started to fly, the field layout was huge with a snake running oneside, numerous T bags and witches ***'s dotted about, cans, tombstones you name it, it seemed a very busy field, set up that way to give the many newbies a chance of longer games. It worked a treat. Building confidence in players and giving the viewers a real spectacle. Also new for this week was a different scoring method (3 points for a win, but the losing side receiving a point for every opponent they elliminated) once again it worked well making sure even the newest and weakest of teams went home with some points and making the top of the table even closer.
Results
1st; 25pts: Moppy's T bags (From the Universal stable, 3 young guys who's pace, agility and quick fire took all by storm, quite outstanding and used the snake better than any. Very impressive.)
2nd; 24pts: Vudoo (Started favourites in most peoples eye's and played magnificent with some spectacular moves, ie Famous doing his hurdling over the 50, but lost out on winning by 2 x 1 for 1 penalties, but expecting a return at X-ball on sunday)
3rd= 21pts: NVA (Boy these guys just love the snake, great attack by Stevo, with Dave stalking ominously up the field and Roo's splendid back up. May not have been their best result, but deffinatly their most accomplished play, well done)
3rd= 21pts: Jakass (Even without their full team, Rob and Daz from the Sparkies stepping in and doing them proud, great overall play. Paul and Jak work as a perfect partnership and have still got so much more to offer, top notch)
5th= 19pts: DOA (Shame they lost an influencial player half way, could of come higher up the leaderboard, but Gaz is getting better all the time, certainly his best performance on the NSPA field, proud of you old man. Connor did a sterling job when asked to come in and Lee is Mr Consistant, good show boy's)
5th= 19pts: Green Machine ( What 3rd week of play, 19pts, what an improvement. All 3 are making people talk, but young Anths move on Jakass, showed real quality and style, a few open mouths were to be seen in the safe zone. These guys are going places!)
7th; 18pts: Mad Monks (Hyped up and ready to go, some great victories, but some questionable defeats! Seem to play better against the better teams and let themselves down against the newer teams. Expect a top 3 finish next week?)
8th; 13pts: Cannon Fodder (Took a young newbie under their wings this week, many thanks, but still faired well and great fun to watch, will deffinatly improve if they keep a consistant 3man team together.)
9th; 12pts: Team 67 (New to NSPA and did well in many of their games, smiled all night and made me laugh, think they enjoyed the atmosphere as much as the games, cheers fella's)
10th; 1pt: T Birds (One old bloke and two gorgeous young ladies took to the field for their first Tourney, very brave or totally crazy? Got the biggest cheer of the night, will be back next week thank goodness)
In my humble opinion our best night at NSPA yet, thank you all
