Due to the minis design, some of the markers will not perform perfect out of the box. They will need a break in period. The break in period will vary from marker to marker and the mini SHOULD just keep getting better and better for you.
The main thing that needs broken in is the spring. The reg dosnt seem to be the reason people are getting chops, blow back, and kick. The reg is not prone to spikes, just more inconsistencies until broken in a little. In my opinion, it is nothing to worry about right out of the box. With the spring being harder than needed right out of the box, it needs to go under a break in period. It will be next to impossible to compress with 1 hand when it is new, but easy to do with your finger and thumb when broken in.
How to break in your spring:
Set your dwell to 28.
Set your rof to 20bps.
Set your mode to nxl.
Set your pressure to 1 tic below 200.
Turn your velocity adjuster in all the way.
Turn you eyes off.
Let it rip a entire tank or 3 out (depending on size, pressure, and your feel for how it needs to be broken in)
The way the mini works is different than any other marker. The bolt will still cycle fully and just as fast no matter where your velocity adjuster is set. Little to no air will vent out of the end of the bolt when the adjuster is positioned all the way forward. This will allow you to get the most cycles out of your tank with out needing a refill. It will also be much easier on your ears.
When ever you feel like it has been through enough of a break in period, such as it works well with paint when you try it, remove the bolt and properly clean and lube it.
How to properly clean and lube your bolt and poppet:
Remove the bolt assembly.
Remove the spring.
Remove the bolt from the bolt guide.
Remove the velocity adjuster from the back cap.
Remove the poppet from its housing.
Wipe all lube off of all of these parts and if necessary, clean paint/lube from the markers body.
Dont use the entire tub of lube, but put a healthy amount on the entire exterior of the bolt and make sure to put some on the rubber tip.
Put a generous amount on the bolt guide.
put the bolt back on the guide and move it back and forth to make sure that it is evenly coated.
Lube all other rings on the assemble that might have been left out from lubing already.
Lube the oring of the poppet and gently replace it all the way forward with the small end facing forward. Make sure that the derlin face is dry as well as the aluminum that it seats up against. Make sure that the little hole is clear of lube and debris by blowing through the back of the poppet.
Lube the ring on the velocity adjuster and replace the adjuster.
Replace the return spring to the bolt making sure it fully snaps in place.
Replace the entire assembly to the marker.
Everything listed above if done properly should eliminate most barrel leaks, most chops, most kick, and blow back issues.
If you still get barrel leaks, chops, kick, and blow back, please try a different battery.
Other barrel leaks
Try resetting your noid by clicking it around 50 times without air.
Other chops
Try different bip or dwell tuning.
Still getting blow back
Try different operating pressure/dwell (tuning)
If your getting leaks from the gas transfer tube, tighten the asa back up with the setscrews in the left side under the grip.
If you have read this page and are still experiencing problems, you either don't deserve this marker, or have a problem bad enough that you have to send it back to KEE
I wanted to also suggest that when ever toying around at the house when dry firing, you move the velocity adjuster forward as mentioned above to help your tank last a really long time. It took me like a hour or so to empty a tank when messing around with it dry firing in semi at the house today!
Also, there was a recent rumor that the detents should be taken out when dry firing. I noticed today that the detents and bolt hardly contact because of the smaller shape of the bolt.

So you bought your mini used and want to make sure you dont have any problems
First thing I would do is read the manual and watch all the tech vids. Reading the sitckeys should help too.
Learn how do clean and lube the entire assembly and do so. Blow on the back of the poppet to make sure that there is nothing blocking the pressure equalization hole. Also make sure the face seal is clean and dry as well as what it sits up against.
Something else I would do is put a fresh battery in too just to avoid and battery related issues which can cause all sorts of problems, leaks, farts, chops, inconsistencies so on and so fourth.
Since you changed the battery, chances are that a factory reset of the board took place, if not, proceed to doing that right now.
Before you ever put a air tank on, unscrew the little gold allen screw on the regulator. Then put the tank on and adjust the pressure where desired ranging from 160 to 200 psi. (this step has caused some confusion. You only need to do this the first time you gas up a used mini just so you know that the person that owned it before you didnt jack the op up.)
