Annual release of new kit Yay/Nay?

I'm just throwing this one out to the pack as I'm genuinely interested to know from the people who are in the know what their opinions are on the annual release of equipment (in particular markers) and what its impact has on the industry/ second hand market and what benefits it has for the producers of such items. Every World cup we see the 05/06/07/08 etc catalogue unveiled (usually with very little differences). Please don't get me wrong, I love this time of year, I love seeing new equipment available, it’s like window shopping before Xmas! Sometimes we even see innovative items launched around about now (Mini, etc, personal opinion). What I am interested to know is:

Is it good for the industry? In particular the markers, I mean does it truly give the manufacturers enough time to make critical changes that are genuinely building on that markers platform? Financially is this the reason the second hand price of markers bought at full price 40 weeks previously flop faster than... well you know...

I'm just interested, I apologise if this has been mentioned before, I do remember something similar quite a while back but the search button didnt help me this time (might of been another forum...). Cheers folks!

It may sound sad, but as my first season working through the unveiling of new kit; I'm really excited.

I just can't wait to start seeing it filtering through, so I can get it up on the site, and read the hype created on here around it all :D

It is no real difference to any other industry, apart from the fact that we actually unveil most bits and bobs around the same time, others tend to just filter through as and when. This obviously causes a competition craze in both the manufacturers and the retailers, and if it wasn't for certain companies, making strict map pricing schemes, the prices of new kit would be as low as second hand stuff if some retailers had their way; whilst trying to climb over one another ;) :)

long as you have money this time of year is awesome, but if you have saved all your for the current model, then 12 months later, a newer model comes out, killing the price of your now old version, it would kinda miff me off,

but tbh, i love it, not so much the guns, and i refuse to spend more than £350 on a marker, but the new gear is lovely...... also its about this time of year new team shirt's and gear start to be considered.

(wow, typing on a laptop is hard, god damm these sausage fingers :p)

love it. would love it more if i had money.

i dont really mind if there arent any great changes every year, as long as there are significant changes every other year or so.
Most manufacturers will release a full marker revision / new marker every other year in my experiece. In between there are subtle changes.

I feel the more variants companies produce the better. Used buyers get a wealth of cheap markers and the whores get a new toy every couple of months:)

Id like to see eclipse start work on a spool valve/single tube style marker, i reckon they could do something pretty special with it and at least it would be something new from them. Wouldnt want them to stop developing the ego though

Tinkering ain’t easy
I Love this time of year... blow the cobwebs off the wallet and find its completely empty cos you have spend your hard earned cash on last years model which is now worth diddly squat , beacuse some masochistic Capitalist Biggot decides he wants to shave 0.00000001g of a marker and release it sending the price of your beloved dropping quicker than a Dutch Prostitutes lace undies

Naaa to be honest I like it, the price of things go down and there is new shiny stuff to look forward to getting. Its always nice to see what the designers/manufactures are bringing out and where companies are heading. If only we all had more £££.....
