What pissses you off in paintball

Isn't the bottom line the fact that most ballers here started off going to punter days, and then became walk-ons, and then perhaps decided to get involved in tourney play.

If punter days didn't exist to keep the sites open, then walk-ons wouldnt happen, and so-on.

Oh and refering to the thread opener, what do you consider old? I'm 38. Am I old?

where are they losing money from then? just inquisitive not defying...
As pointed out above, it's not as cheap as it seems to run a site. People tend to think how expensive can it be to run a piece of forest? Trees grow by themselves, so does grass...

The reality is that usually the basic fee only barely covers the real expenses of running a bunch of punters, if at all.

Here's a list of costs you have to take in account. And then I'm not even mentioning the start up costs.

Maintenance on netting.
Maintenance on guns.
Maintenance on tents, shacks, what have you in safe area.
Cost of Co2 (as most punter guns still run on that).
Wages for marshalls and other staff.
Rent for the field.
And so on and so on and so on...

Also, don't forget that every box of paint extra that gets sold, also means that the punters will be playing longer, which means that the marshalls and other staff will have to work longer and consequently will have to be paid more.

If only things were as easy as most people think.

However, I will admit that there are a few sites out there that operate on a short dollar basis. Meaning that the owner is to stingy to think big, and runs the whole thing on his own, without adequate netting and he's the only staff around. So any extra money does go straight into his own pocket. But these are the bad sites, the ones where people get hurt, because there is not enough staff around to keep an eye on things.

Wish that were true.... for a start it would mean I could cross off "girlfriend nagging cos i spend money on boxes of paint and not jewelry" from my little list.

if sites didn,t charge what they do then they would go out of business:(and if that happened then eventually there would be no more paintball and it would get more expensive for you think about it .a site orders it,s paint by the pallet load and you by the box ,if the sites go bust the paint company will up thier prices to compensate for lose of earnings,so stop moaning about the sites thier in it to make money but also they subsidise you by keeping the price of paint down and alot of other things, also have ever heard of overheads alot of sites don,t make as much money as you think when you take out rent, site repairs, staff wages and numerous other items there isn,t that much left:eek:yes they could probably do things better but stop moaning about the amount they charge as this is the only way alot of sites get thier income to keep going

Things that piss me off are

a) people who turn up to a tourny or training session with broken kit, get mad about it, promise to fix it in time for the next time out, then either forget or just dont bother, then complain when it goes down again

b) a lack of a proper national woods league

c) having to get up at 2.30am next Sunday to travel to Ionman (I'm sure it will be worth it though, can't wait actually)

d) when you've got a clear shot on a guy from a closeish range, your aim is dead on, and your paint ends up going everywhere except on target when it's been fine all day, and you end up getting lit up like a christmas tree for it

and finally e) when punters/friends say "why not just get a can of dulux, it'll be a lot cheaper"

Ok rant over
