Cant take his drink though...

Not meaning to steer the thread too far off topic, though it seems we've arrived at the conclusion that Ollie's still good, but Ryan's making his mark, but what about the top UK pro player? Any opinions?
any guesses :p begins with a P

Sorry my bag.

but the point i am trying to make is that to some ollie has never been the best player in the world ( i am talking about people who play at the top level and not poles).

This is not a flaming thread or trying to get at people i think it is a good topic to talk about.

and no one has a opinion on weather it was dynasty that made ollie shine >

do you think ollie was abit ahead of the dynasty when he played for them. now the rest have matured and have now come up !!! and ollie has not made such a big as impact. but the dynasty boys are still putting on a good show

No worries mate.

I agree with you that who the best player in the world is, is a matter of opinion. Even in sports where thousands of stats are kept, there are still discussions about who's the better athlete, because besides the obvious, there are also qualities like leadership and what have you, that are harder to define, but are equally important.

Look at soccer. It's easy to say this guy is a better player, because he scored more than that guy. But at the same time, the other guy might be a defender and he may well have turned the team around by his mere presence.

I do feel that it was Dynasty that allowed Ollie to shine more. No doubt the guy is one hell of a player, but stick him on a sh*t team and he'll get shot too.
So there is no doubt in my mind that a great player will shine more on a team that is also great.

But as far as who is the best, there will always be discussions and opinions. People look for different things. Like I said, Skinny K to me is one of the greats (when he still played). I saw a game in Germany (don't remember who they played) a few years back where it was just him and Rodney left on the field, in sh*t positions. They just locked down the field and took home the win.
Also a game in Amsterdam comes to mind. Dynasty versus TonTons in the finals. Kevin is the last guy left, with a few TonTons still in there. End result, Kevin runs home the flag, despite having so much paint in his mouth that he's actually vomiting (one of the TonTons had shot him in the face after elimination).

Still, does my opinion make Skinny K the best player in the world? Not at all. I probably look for different things than others do, for the simple reasons that we may have different tastes, preferences and played different positions.

What's good about talks like this is also exactly that. They can go on for ever, because they are about opinions and not facts. And nobody said that long talks are bad. :)
