Been using a 11.1V LiPo (1000 mah) in a halo (V35 Board) all year without any issue. Even though they state 11.1v nominal, fully charged they are more like 12.5V.
After a days ball the battery is still showing 12+V so it's more than up to the job and the board doesn't seem to complain about the voltage. If you want to drop the voltage slightly to protect the board the you could put a diode or 2 in the battery output. Each diode would drop the voltage around 0.6V.
