I remember landing in Amsterdam, got to the car park, Joey G pulled his gun out and started dry firing. Didn't empty his tank or nothing. Fair do's to him.

if the batteries are for your kit then leave them connected in your bag to go in the hold. Dont take your regs out the bottle, just make sure there is no air in there. Put all liquids, creams, toothpaste etc in the hold and you wont have any problems. Dont declare anything as you are not carrying anything illegal. Oh and put the good ol' copy of PGI in the bag with your kit as well.
I have just done New York and back and we had no problems at all.

Surely it would be better to Unconnect any kit from batteries, and even take them in your hand luggage seperate. (aa's, 9v's) a reloader with batteries in has to look like some kind of bomb.

If this is how you did it than fair enough, i just know its all about drawing as little attention to it as possible.

As long as the barrel is taken off (that's a given) it doesn't look conspicuous (sp?) even with batteries, you should be fine :)

So Just batteries with wires hanging off doesnt look more like some kind of bomb part than leaving it on a piece of kit they can see in the magazine you carry????? If its going in the hold then it will be X-rayed and show the whole piece of kit rather than something that looks suspect.
I dont know how you can be confused when all it takes is sensible thinking from anyone.
I was told what to do by Nicky T as I travelled with him and he spends most of his life travelling abroad, so if he doesnt know about it then I dont know who does.
Different airlines may have different policies but if I can get into JFK in New York with no problems then I cant see why it should be different. Is this not one of the main reasons everything has gone so mad, because of 9/11???
You dont have to take my advice but I am just saying how I done it.

I´ve never had any problems with batteries in my hand luggage - I´ve even travelled with my loader incl. batteries... But maybe I was just lucky? Doesn´t say anything about batteries being illegal anywere as far as I know though?! :)
