best reg for an 05 ego?

Been looking at improving the efficiency of my ego (05), stock internals, looked at replacing the rammer but all of them seem to have problems, so thought I'd get a cure bolt then sort out the reg - what do you recommend? a star reg must be good obviously, but can save muchos dineros by getting a CP reg, which apparently are bombproof. Wondering if anyone had any good/bad experiences with any particular regs? Will prob also be switching between HP and LP tanks (yes, I know i'll have to re-chrono).

Just keep the original mate its a goood little reg as it is, a star reg is a nicer one but as you say you want to save cash. Id also stick with a HP bottle mate far more consistent (less shootdown)

star reg is just a stock reg with different milling and a swivelling connector....

the cp reg is really easy to service - it uncsrews into bits - clean and lube it and the little ball bearing - screw back together - no springs, pistons or otherwise.....

ran a cp reg on my ion. to be honest it will make NO difference to efficiency, but does give a slightly faster recharge rate, thus more consistency on a low pressure marker like the ion.

upped the sp8 internals to the epiphany setup and the cp reg does not seem to do so well at the higher pressure (270psi as opposed to 140psi) with this setup.

i've stuck by the reg on the ego tho' as i've had no problems with it.

Question 2 - how efficient do you beleive it should be?
Question 3 - do you want to waste money on sh11t, or just tune what you have which is perfectly decent?

Also, post up your HPR / LPR and Dwell settings.

Was running it thru a crossfire LPR reg the other night (tank is 4500psi, 1.1l, not sure what the crossfires output is), LPR screw 1 1/2 turns in (lovetone says one, jack woods apparently says two on the nation, so found a compromise lol), set the dwell till it peaked then backed it off, now at 9, velocity 280, and getting around 500 shots from a 3000psi fill (cant find 4500psi anywhere local). Would like it to be around 700-800.

Consistency isnt an issue, and I am very impressed with the stock reg, its just I would like to stretch the mileage a little futher.

thats not very efficient at all. yikes. erm. never seen anyything like that.

id suggest rebuilding the regs, and the rammer (orings).

also try servicing your QEVs. dunno why exactly just sounds like something that might help.


with all the egos ive used ive got about 1500-1800 shots off a full 4500psi fill 1.1 litre bottle.


FYI crossfire LP regulators kick out 450psi, but this shouldnt effect efficiency.

also in terms of your reg on the marker, most "good " regs look towards stability and recharge rate rather than efficiency IMHO. hence upgrading a reg will most likely improve your shot to shot consistency (ie strings over a chronograph) and prevent shootdown at high ROF

Lovetone speaks the truth, the only way you're going to improve your efficiency is by cleaning and rebuilding the regs, rammer and QEVs. By that I mean stripping them down completely, cleaning, replacing orings and lubing properly. A HPR/inline reg will not improve efficiency, just consistency, and honestly that sounds like the least of your worries at the moment if you're only shooting 500shots of 3000psi, and like I think you said before, being unable to shoot past 800psi.

Like I told you the other night dude, ego regs are pretty rock solid. They, like all regs, need to be cleaned, lubed and maintained correctly. Do this and you're sorted.

you can get different piston springs for high pressure applications i believe

there are no springs in the cp reg....if you mean for the stock sp reg, then yes, there is a heavier spring you insert instead of the standard one to let it work in the higher pressure range.

the stack of washers is a spring, and i ment pistons, you can get
High pressure piston(silver) - 0-500psi

Low pressure piston(black) - 0-300psi
