The bottom line is if you were going to spend any money on sponsorship they are the only euros worth looking at.
I would think RL are doing pretty OK for Smart Parts.
Also, for most of the European paintball companies, it is ONLY as question of what teams do for them in the European market..... so for many of them, a team like Moscow Phoenix have more value than Edmonton Impact would, despite Impact being a better team with better results (in the US).
So, Joy is far from the only euro team "worth looking at".... there are plenty.... and many of them generate a lot of sales for their sponsors.
Heck, I would even argue that there are European teams with far worse results than Joy, that generate far more sales.... they just don't do it as marketing vehicles, they do it as a sales organisations.
Last, but certainly not least... sponsorships are about a lot more besides results! - It is not so simple that "the best team generates the most sales - because everyone thinks they have the best kit".... no informed consumer is that stupid in 2007.
You don't buy Carlsberg either, because you think it makes you a better footballer, despite the logo being on the Liverpool FC jersey.
Sponsorships are about generating a positive feeling... it's about showing the market (and world) that you are an involved and interested company, it's about showing you support the sport. - And you choose which teams to sponsor, because those teams manage to convey a feeling that you want your products identified with.
A site like this one is a very effective tool for communicating your teams philosophy and image.... in an underhand fashion....
For instance.... Magued coming on here and saying they will stick with WDP - because they owe it to them and because they make the best products, is a really good example...
It makes people think highly of Magued and Joy Division...... and it also makes people think that WDP inspires loyalty..... and at the same time, it says something about the products, because nobody believes Joy would stick with WDP if their guns starting loosing them games (irrespective of the truth)
Elegantly done - and completely planned
