I think an important question to ask is how could any paintball-sized company have 28 employees that they don't NEED?

..On second thoughts it's probably just lawyers and patent filers
You'd kinda think that the last bill SP got (allegedly $6million) from their attorneys re the WDP case might have put them off from any further litigation proceedings ....but ya never know ....

no they are not sponsoring my team whats a shame
Tanked is a couple of young german guys that make clothes - they are not a factor in this debate - very few are:

Global players:
Smart Parts
KEE
DYE
Brass Eagle
WDP
Planet
Draxxus
Kingman
Archon

European players:
Tomahawk
Sports Attitude
Maxs

- and nobody else are relevant to the European sponsorship market in any major way.

Watch out Nick, that's you one good point for the day, you used it early ;)

In terms of teams that might struggle, it's going to be some very simple rules next year.

Simply being Pro means very little
Being Pro with some geographical "lock" is good, but hard to quantify
Being Pro with geographical lock and podium finishes is better
Being Pro with geographical lock, podium finishes and an affiliated store/field through which to move product is the best

The companies will start at the top and work their way down - the difference is they'll "run out" of money from their budgets faster than they have this year. So those that were lower down the list might not get those "automatic" deals they had this year, and if they get anything, it'll probably be less generous.

So just go through the rankings and see who you think is worth sponsoring...

Here's another one:

I think you will find that being able to move product, trumps being Pro - in many instances ;)

2 for 2 and it's not even lunchtime - the boys on fire ;)

I was only talking about Pros, but you're right (that hurt) and I wouldn't even put "in many instances" as a qualifier...
So the question becomes - if there is no decline in the European market - will we actually see any drops in sponsorships - or just a redistribution of them?

;)

Joy might go to someone else, they seem quite loyal to Angel though.[/QUOTE].....LMAO,as somebody else posted, hell will freeze over 1st,Joy aren,t moving anywhere,1 of the few pro teams to actually stay loyal to their sponsors and not drop 'em so sure another slightly(grass is greener?) better(or seems to be) deal comes along,so lets wait and see who really gets dropped!?.Some teams also get dropped for a variety of reasons as well,cutbacks/streamlining,lawsuits(SP,s sore point;)),lack of results or just generally p!ss!ng about and not behaving(in their sponsors eyes anyway, bad 4 business sponsoring eeejits) imhoa.....Frenchie......WDP4LIFE:D

I love Joy as much as anyone out here, and I think they show a lot of respect for their sponsors but, what's with this "staying loyal to their sponsors" bull****?

They are a good team, very well managed and as such they will change sponsors every time they perceive that a new sponsor will be better in the mid/long term than the one they currently have.

We could ask DYE if they were loyal to death with them, right? I remember them in dye gear not that long ago, have some awesome pics of them in Malaga with the Invisions....

I don't think they will be swapping markers because Angel is as good a marker as any other in the top (slightly better or slightly worse than others based on personal preference) but the long-time relationship will weight in. I seriously doubt that if they were to get an offer that would allow them to have, say, 4 more players dedicated full-time to playing they would "stay loyal" to the sponsor because that would be being unloyal to the team. And that, that would really be a surprise.
