opinions on moneyball

so let me get this straight, all they have done is taken a normal paintball format, and got rid of the breakout and run throughs (in the traditional sense of the term)?
two of the most interesting/fun/exciting/etc part of a paintball game, not only for the player but to spectators too
and ontop of that, they gave it a really sh!t name

I cant see how it removes any of the problems of a televised format, yes there is now a main focel point but too much is still going on around it, for instance you could spend the game filming the people heading for the flag whilst the other players all get shot out.
If you zoom out so you can see more of the field you cant see where the pint is going

Ok, so the name sucks.......but the idea does have merit. Some of the rules would need to be changed.....line of possession for a start but otherwise the format is really not that different.

The true question is, if this guaranteed TV coverage and then external sponsorship followed, would you play or are you too much of a purist to accept or entertain change?

And before people dive in and start flaming, think carefully about what we want for our sport. There have been more than enough threads about how we raise the profile of the game and bring it to the great unwashed masses. This guy is putting forward another option.

I think from posts here, that most people would end up in dichotomy of sorts. Personally, if it raises the profile of our sport, then good for it. There's enough different formats at the moment, who's going to notice one more, especially if it turns out to be the biggest non-paintball player crowd puller.

Im at work so I cant re watch this to check but if you take out the rule about possession line you just have the rule about starting anywhere on the back line, wasn’t this tried a few years back then ditched? So basically your saying play a format where there is 7 (or 5) guys shooting at each other and trying to hang a flag. That seems strangely familiar .

Though I understand your point if a format is found that can be televised it will benefit paintball, I just don’t think this is the format.

why change the sport when people like it the way it is..? that whole money ball thing has only started becasue its what the audience whant to see which in my opinion is stupid...

just leave paintball the way it is

dont like it myself, cant really see a advatage for TV makers either.... and plus its paintball not a rip off of america football, but like people say if it brings in the money ill give it a go
