And Friedman does have a sensible approach. But let's not make him into the messiah Pete. I know I know, you should know a messiah when you see one, cos you've followed a few.
Very true I have, and I suppose the most important of whom was when somebody handed me a mirror.
For the people who may read this, Rancid has long since said all this was gonna happen and much as it pains me, he was proved right.
We all got sucked in and the only thing that insulated Rancid from all this was his natural cynicism and pessimism...he got lucky :)

As for Bruce?
Well, Messiah's are pretty thin on the ground as we know and maybe my excitement has a lot to do with the desperate nature of the situation we find ourselves in.
But let's not forget Matt, I have a vested interest in Paintball's reemergence and what you may perceive as over-exuberance may well be desperate wishful thinking.

Either way, I don't give a sh!t because what's important is, US paintball needs to get reinvigorated and the only way that is gonna happen is they need to get behind Bruce (as a collective) and produce TV shows.

This has proven to stimulate growth and since we cannot now rely on the industry to generate it's own momentum as it has done in the past, then I honestly believe our salvation falls ironically back into the realms of TV...sad but true.
The emphasis has changed however from producing shows to create a league based TV show, it has changed to just getting paintball as a sport in front of people's faces to promote sales, a somewhat less pretentious and hopefully more successful endeavour.

I sit on the board of the British Federation of Sport and Play and this is a problem across the whole of sport. So, we must consider that this is a 'competitive youth' problem and not just paintball's.
Aiiieee, my eyes! Why did I google the FSPA website and click the board link? The horror!

If we're seeing a gradual shift away from competetive sport by the obsese Playstation generation, we might benefit at the expense of other sports as the required fitness level is lower........and guns are an attractive proposition to people weaned on Resident Evil.

Site with supair

I run my woodland site near leicester and i invested in supair 3 years ago got a great field all the bunkers and a good playing surface.

The two teams that play out of my site use it to train.

All of the new players we have are woodsball transit players played the site and we got them interested in supair. We have regular training sessions and put anoncements up on forums offering anyone a chance to come along.
If players have no kit at all we lend it to them we dont charge the earth i subsidise the supair.

We charge £10 walk on includes use of site and air.

We do a deal price too £30 includes a case of paint.

We have had teams ask to use the field but moan about paying £10 and being asked to help clean and take down.

Some teams have asked to join our training sessions against our guys for practice but dont want to pay anything, they want to come along with own paint etc but pay no walk on fee. Thier argument being we get teams to train against and some players have left without paying or helping take down.

Midlands players and teams say they have no where to train to get better at the game we have a venue they just cant be bothered or want something for nothing.

At the price we charge we only cover the costs.

Encouraging new blood is important to us as a lot of us are getting older and know we need to quit but new players have got to want it bad enough.

I am a business man and as such dont need to lose money i understand Bernie @ Go Ballistic shutting his doors on training and gettin pissed off why wouldnt he?

In my time ive played millenium and made the Sunday club its a great feeling playing big events but a lot of UK ballers aint got it inside them fact.

That's yet again lazy arsed Brits Loz, want it all handing to them on a silver platter. Always been the case, and until they can change their way of thinking to that of being an out and out winner who wants it bad, then it's sadly them who will be the very same people who will be the first to bleat like lambs when it all comes crashing down. Without wanting to sound sarky and big headed, I have got more skill and enthusiasm in my nads alone than some of the "players" on the tourny scene today!!!
