I have no knowledge of EGO's so excuse my ignorance but

a) why would anyone go near a solenoid?
b) is it easy to put a screw through it? Is it a poor design?

a) if it needs an o-ring replacing/ needs cleaning
b) aftermarket grips eg hybrid are thinnner than stock so require shorter screws...if stock screws are used they can go through the noid.

thats cool mate:)
Answers from what I know:
a) Some people just like messing with markers, use the wrong lube or use too much lube etc.
b) Nothing wrong with the design, the only problem with putting a screw through a solanoid comes from aftermarket grips. Some aftermarket grips are thinner et the top where the screws go through. Planet were aware of this and put a note under all the aftermarket grips on their website. Hybrid also put a note in with grips and supplied shorter ecrews but the older stocks didnt. I know loads of people who have done it and even one that worked for Rolls Royce. He knew about the problem and still managed it. It happens.

Ps. I am VERY biased but the guys are right, PLANETs aftersales is second to none. Next day delivery if you need spares too:)

The 07 solanoid is not a serviceable part either as far as I am aware.
I have owned EGOs for years and NEVER had one problem with a solanoid, because I dont mss with them. I know plenty who have and I just send them back and get a replacement:)
mess with a solanoid and you ruin your warantee!

now you learn something new everyday. i was just coming up with reasons as to why you would want to go near a sloenoid. my empire timmy got water in the sloenoid somehow....so i stripped it cleaned it flung it all back together and it worked fine, now i own a shocker so i may need to take my noid to pieces to change an oring or 12..

go with EGO7, just because i dont like dye/proto markers, and planet are awsome

Aha yes, same as the alias but it was the battery not the solenoid.

Edit: thats what I meant Dan. Neither situation being ideal lol

the screws didn't go throught the battery, you just kind of dented it a little.

if i had new grips and was really excited about how my new gun was going to look, I think I would cry if i busted the solenoid. :(

EGO all the way mate, but you would know I would say that.:D

Proper reason: The DM7 is a slightly tarted up DM6, The EGO7 is huge jump forward compared to the 06.

Plus considering the probs you had with your Ion, do you really want another spool valve marker and all the potential o'ring problems that come with them?

It wasn't done purposely, honest. :)

Basically, I took the grips (standard ones) off to 'see what the inside was like' and when I put them back on I did the screws up so tight that it completely destroyed the hole in the grips and made it thin enough to let the screw go right through. :(

Noobish?? I know:eek::eek::eek:.

The metal solenoid in the 07 just makes me want one even more. :D
