most cheat modes reset after a second or so anyway, so it stops if a marshall tries to grab it off you to test.
and do they keep an eye on people pushing buttons in the dead box ?

i thought that you were eliminated for putting the barrell sock on during a game to stop dead mans walks, you are signalling you are out.
but didnt think that it was a 1-4-1 for doing it before you were told,
i know you arent supposed to turn your gun off until told to do so.

No idea where the rule came from, ask the millenium series. Do i agree with it, not bothered its a rule which myself as a ref has to follow and you as players have to follow simple.

As regards not barreling up in deadbox, in theory no guns should be in a deadbox, they should be in a gun box but as these arnt in place at minute, i had no issues for dead players to sock up in the dead box for safety. I cant comment on other fields though. They just wern't allowed to sock up before being told to by me at the end of the game.

As far as I am aware socking up isnt a 1-4-1 enforceable penalty, elimination if your a live player,

if your a dead player a live team member eliminated, and if that is not possible 25 penalty pts at the 5 man, 1 penalty point at the 7 man. Pretty sure thats right. ( which i wasnt imposing and have a feeling no other field was either)

Olly, i believe that its because marshalls are not allowed to check your marker for bounce, ramp or running hot if you have socked up. We had an incident on sunday where one of the marshals thought one of our guns was bouncing during the game, if we had socked up on entry to deadbox he would not have been allowed to check it! Or so i believe, best thing to do Olly is to contact J.C (James Conroy) or cityking (Jon Conroy) and ask them they will know the answer!!!
No idea why this is in place to be honest I am there just to abide by the rules set out in front of me, the majority of rules i can understand this one eludes me but im not here to think just act :D:D.

I thought as much. I can see the need for live players to possibly stay unsocked as some naughty types might use the motion to lose a gun hit or indeed cover a hit on the barrel tip. An eliminated player is, well, eliminated, so hopefully this will be less of an issue and there's plenty of time hidden in the deadbox for mode tinkering if that's an issue. Perhaps the rule should be changed to live players stay unsocked and eliminated ones can sock up? Or just keep it as is for simplicity? Just seems crackers to have a rule in place no one seems to understand, that's the Millennium's job:)

The sock and sticker rule is stupid!

Its unsafe when unsocked so why not let us just sock up, if they want to test our guns we can take them back off.

The rule is as pathetically stupid as at least half a dozen others currently in use by the Millennium Series and adopted by other national leagues.

The primary aim of all rules is to ensure fair play and safety, by not allowing players to protect everyone at the end of there participation in a game is laughable and ridiculous in the extreme.

To claim that "we have to do it because the Millennium series do" is frankly a very weak argument - the quality of refereeing staff at a major event is far above what is available overall at the masters (no insult just fact) and they all believe it is a silly rule and should be discarded from the rule book.
The rule on the changing the electronics is again daft, would you as a ref when a player asks can he press a button ever say no, of course you wouldn't.
A player on a team I had a run out with at the weekend put different colour paint in his hopper during a game and the eyes started playing up so he turned the eye off and was promptly eliminated and when he asked why several times couldn't believe it and asked again and ended up getting a one for one penalty (rightly so he was told to leave the field) but two players (paying customers) had their game ruined because of a stupid and unjust rule.

I asked all the Ultimates why we was not allowed to leave our barrel socks at the start base if we was not allowed to put them on the gun if eliminated, nobody had an answer.

good point russ. why carry the barrel sock if u cant put it on until told. surely leaving at the start gate makes no difference? something else to dig into yer leg when u dive on it.
