Hi, ive recently been given the task of a mid player in a small team that will be playing at KOTH in july/september.

I dont really know much about Mid players, i know the basis of back and front like hell, but being a Mid player is a little foggy. Was just wondering if you could help me with like, whats my main role to do,whats the basis of being a mid, any tips/advice for being a mid player?

(PS. I can see the 'well dont be a mid player then' posts as this is not possible for me in the team as the spots are taken and are most likely more experienced in that area than me. And i have plenty of time to practice my role until then:D)

Thanks for any help in advance

Mid players must be able to move quickly without being a large target. They are often, but not always, a little bit larger than the front players and bit smaller than backs. A good mid players, however, will often be the most experienced paintballer on the field: mids have learned how to provide good suppression fire and have a thorough understanding of how field setups affect the game. Mid players must also be familiar with playing front – they must be able to switch from cool and calculating to fierce and aggressive as soon as it is needed.
p.s not you joking lol.

M Knight, you are looking at more of a traditional definition of "player", today you have to be able to play any position, and as its getting harder and harder to make those corners etc .. you are losing the traditional "play fatty at the back" approach.

But if you are behind one of your players, as well as shoot the other team, you have to keep him alive and basically let the guy in front take the glory, but as its 5man, you may well see the gap to go on a killing spree down the field, so go do it.

I hope that helps, as ive started to confuse myself, and that probably is a little more simplified than some people may like

you need to pay attention your own team and don't get left posted while your team is walking to the deadbox. every time you get put in or have to reload check them, and talk to your front players to tell them what the situation is. In Koth you dont reload much so just remember not to get locked in to shooting all the bad guys. If you find yourself doing this in games try getting in your bunker and checking who's left before you gun up. I found this useful for un'locking myself from getting too engrossed in the first bad guy that i saw.

Things like back left has gone or left side clear is really useful to your front players.
To help define your objectives and game plan you need to give people jobs / objectives such as control the tap or dominate the lane.

Most importantly, and remember this one - don't get shot. Only gunfight when you need to, or are confident about them being not so accurate or whatever. But not getting shot means you can at least cross up with your remaining players and maybe take with you anyone who tries to mug you.

oh and read the Pgi classroom..

hope this helps :)

all you have to be able to do is make your primary bunker, within a few minutes/seconds you should have moved up anyway, no such thing as back/mid/front players anymore, those are just desired positions to reach off the break

do yer best and shoot fools. no one can ask for more. give it yer all and you'll be fine. dont get shot out for the sake of getting shot. i.e. if your taking alot of fire then stay tight and soak it up. if yer play KOTH then it wont be long before they run outta paint or look for another target. relay everything you see back down the field to people behind and infront of you. if u shoot someone then tell yer team. play aggressive but smart.
